How can I fix this? I have the Red Baron Mesh and Topo (the combo CD). This is RealNZ Rotorua.

Christian
You may want to ask Robin. Looks to me as if our coastlines don't match. Another possibility is that the topo isn't installed correctly.

Yes, I've seen this before -- a reinstall of the Topo fixed it.

I still don't get it sorted.

I removed and deleted the Mesh, Topo and RealNZ Rotorua.
This is what it looks like --

I then installed the Mesh Topo combo CD again. I only added the Topo in FS9.
This is what it looks like --

Then I added the Mesh and this is what it looks like --

I dropped the TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL from 21 to 19 and this is how it looks --

Then I changed it back to 21 and installed the RealNZ Rotorua and this how it looks --

Oh, I´m happy - I´m not alone. I have a similar problem - 2 ditches in the bay of Rotorua (20m mesh, topo). I deactivated every addon, changed terrain max. vertex level, reinstalled mesh and topo and got the same result. Now I gave up und close my eyes when flying over this area.

Did you perhaps have another version of Rotorua scenery installed previous to the mesh/topo and/or REAL NZ package?

If so, it may have added some .BGl's into your scenery directory which you will need to remove. Try installing it again into a temporary folder on your desktop, and see what files get placed where- then find them in your main FS9 directory and remove them.

Your screenshot is different again, in that the photoreal doesn't show up. Have you turned that off?
It certainly looks like an old AFCAD file for the seaplane base. I know there is one about -- I've seen it before, and I'll do a search.

If you only have problems around Rotorua, indeed this is caused by some other 3rd party add-on you have installed somewhere. Often, turning off the main add-on folder fixes the problem.

This looks exactly like Ran's earlier post. Note that he fixed it with a Topo reinstall. How's the rest of the country look, especially the coastlines?

You are right - it was a AFCAD from the addon "MyWorld" named "Lake Front" (af2 NZR1). Thank you so much - the day is saved!

I have now installed a fresh copy of FS9. The only exras installed are the RealNZ scenery and the Mesh Topo combo.

Here is Rotorua again, no change --

Hiya

Try putting your Topo right BELOW all your extra scenery.

So its like

  1. Real NZ sceneries
  2. Any other add on scenery - photoreal stuff etc
  3. "Add On Scenery"
  4. TOPO
  5. MESHES
  6. "Generic Libraries"
  7. all the other standard stuff.

That's how I have it anyway. Seems to work.

andrewp
Thanks Matt, but that hasn't worked for me either. I bet this is going to be something small.

Ok, this confirms your topo isn't installed properly. Can you please send me a personal email and we take it from there?

Okay, will do ... thank you.

Thank you Christian, you have found the problem for me. For the record and anyone in the future who has this problem --

"Back in the scenery/ocen/scenery folder. You have the bglx files. What the installer does is rename some default files to bglx so they are disabled, otherwise you see what you see. So far so good. For some reason, your system retained the original files. These need to be removed! Go through your ocen folder and check all the bglx files. Remove the files that are identical to the bglx ones but end in bgl. It should be safe to delete them as the bglx files are the backup copies and when you uninstall the installer will restore them. However, for extra security you may want to move them somewhere else rather than deleting them (but not into a folder that is recognized by FS, eg you could create a backup folder under ocen and move them there). This will fix your problem!"
