I guess this is straight forward. There are pros and cons of being closed, main advantage being that it stays free of clutter and potentially disruptive people.
Breathtakingly gorgeous FS landscapes for New Zealand.

I think close is best if we are going to have source files etc avalible ,but that could be a designer only topic anyway ? would these files be uploaded to nzff data base ? and does nzff have enough room to accommodate files of size volume..?
also id be happy to donate if needed to buy more server space for the project ..
There could be a open topic for the public to see progress and ask questions
anyway ill leave it at that for now as this is still new of the ground .

Just a quick answer on this. Ultimately it depends on how large the files are, at the moment we could host probably a max. of 150Mb of extra files. This allows room for temporary backup storage as well as a regular increase of space over time.

I think that we will need to upgrade in the next 2-3 months anyway, and there are a few options available to us. One plan floated was to give keen members an opportunity to donate more than usual and get a few more forum benefits. Although that would depend on which option we chose; the cheap option would be around double what we are paying now (so ~$250-300 pa), the more expensive option being roughly ~$750-800 pa. After the upgrade we would have at least double the amount of diskspace we have now, perhaps a lot more, but will keep you posted.

Will give you guys more info as we get closer (atm you are the first to know! - so this is all very tentative :wink2: ).

Actually, I forgot to mention this, I'd like to be able to distribute files via simpilot (freeware of course). The benefit is that I have stacks of space (we're talking gigabytes and terrabytes traffic) and also have a website setup. Not sure how I'm going to manage permissions though...
This doesn't mean though that files can't be hosted here as well. I'm open to ideas...

Yea, at the moment we are a little limited, but that will open up in the next few months. Bandwidth is not a problem for us either. I suppose it's a matter of personal (i.e. Designer's) preference. Permissions for 'designer access only' files could be managed via a password-protected directory which we could set up here, keeping in mind the current limitations on our diskspace, and how that will cease to be such an issue in a few months. :)

seems like it's pointless to continue this poll: 10-0 is a pretty one sided verdict! I'm going to lock the poll and announce this forum to also stay locked ;)
