April Screenshot Compeition

Post and comment on screen captures from the beautiful game here. Home of the monthly screenshot competition

Postby ardypilot » Wed Apr 01, 2009 6:10 pm

This month we've decided to do things a little differently- just as a trial, but if the topic proves successful, we may run it again in the future.

To incorporate more of a 'real world aviation' aspect into the NZFF website, we thought it would be neat to have actual aviation photographs up in the banner- and of course, sticking with NZFF tradition, we'd like to source that new homepage image for that through a monthly competition as we usually do with FS screenshots- so here in lies the twist: Instead of entering a screenshot this month, each entry must be an aviation related photograph, planespotting/airshow shots, cockpit views, airport overview, air to grounds- that you have never uploaded to this website before. All the usual rules below apply too:

And just to keep things slightly sim related, our long time supporters Carenado will be providing the winner with any one of their payware aircraft free of charge- you can browse through your prizes on their website at www.carenado.com, choosing any product from the FS9 and FSX range! Now that's an incentive for you all to enter!

This is the 34th monthly competition, which is free to enter for all the members of NZFF.

This month's rules are as follows:

1) The photography must be from must be somewhere in New Zealand territory.

2) The image size must be as close as possible to 984 pixels wide- read the uploading screenshot guide to find out how to re-size your shot. Please keep a high resolution version saved on your computer; the admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert into a site banner!

3) Also remember, try and make your shot suitable for a thin rectangular banner. Think about that when positioning your aircraft and choosing camera angles etc. (and please don't include any text on the image either)

4) Images can be submitted from April 1st 2009 to April 30th 2009, with only one entry per member. You can change your submission before the closing date if you want, just delete the old one and replace it with a new one (by using the edit button at the bottom of your post. Please don't post saying you have edited your original entry, as this creates unnecessary clutter).

5) On April 31st, a poll will open and run for a few days to decide who has the best image, then the winner will have a cropped version of their image appear in the NZFF banner as well as receiving the Carenado prize!

6) Editing is allowed, if you know how to do it. The more stunning your shots look the better! However, for photographs- this does not include allowing importation of other images, just the regular contrast and sharpness adjustments.

7) This month's theme is: 'A photograph representing aviation in New Zealand'... endless possibilities for images here, (think about Easter weekend at Omaka!) however, the image you submit must not have been posted on NZFF before in previous threads- so go out and snap some shots or dig up some old favorites off your harddrive to make the competition unique!

8) The photograph must have been taken by you.

All the best to everyone, lets see lots of entries guys! (and don't worry, we're be back to good old fashioned screenshots from next month onwards) thumbup1.gif

PS- Alex will be starting up a poll to vote for March's competition later tonight too- don't forget to place your vote!

We all know that we really 'own' Australia, don't we? tongue.gif

Alex

On a serious note, Trolly will decide what flies and what doesn't.

Haha- I actually had you in mind when writing up this competition Ben! To answer your question- for those outside of NZ,

A) Come to New Zealand and take a photograph tongue.gif
B) Submit a photograph taken on a previous visit to New Zealand
C) Not enter the competition (voting is still allowed for the foreigners of course winkyy.gif)

Here's mine, taken from the ground at Whenuapai 2009, although the clouds in the background makes it look like it was taken at altitude.

Yay!!! Finally, a screenshot competition I can actually enter without my poor system showing itself up against the entire competition!

After a fairly extensive search through my collection, this one stood out as screaming the words "Aviation" and "New Zealand".
