Operation Deep Freeze.

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Postby connor » Thu Dec 16, 2010 12:26 pm

For all you flight-sim pilots who live or fly into NZCH, I have made a traffic bgl and have edited the NZCH and NZPG (Mcmurdo Sound) bgls so they accept the
C-17 and LC-130 and best of all the parking bgls are edited in a way that they park where they park in real life

At the moment both C-17's are away and a RNZAF C-130 is in the MILCARGO park behind the LC-130. Added some library objects for good measure.

No prob winkyy.gif

It's not ready for upload quite yet, the main problem being the NZCH aircraft parking bgl. I have changed an addon for NZCH and I'm not sure which one it is or where I got it from. So until then I will be unable to direct people to the required file.

might you be persuaded to throw your traffic bgls my way CO Warren,..love to get some of them on my NZCH ramp !. The old man flew many sorties to McMurdo in the C-130 ,I have stuffed toy penguins from McMurdo store as well as his Operation Deep Freeze jackets biggrin.gif

The other part I forgot to mention, is that the aircraft (UKMIL C-17 & Mike Stone's C-130 ski for FS8/9 and additional Operation deep freeze texture) are all still flyable. I have to find a way to change that so they are only AI aircraft and do not show in the Aircraft menu. Any scenery designers out there who are proficient at recreating specific buildings, PM me as at the moment the blue hangar and all other scenery objects are FSX defaults. smile.gif

I can try, but it relies on NZCH Airport Scenery by Tony Chapman. It Can be found here. Apart from that the only other thing is the aircraft.

Hey Conner. Nice work mate.

Re locating the BGL file, which AFCAD editor are you using?

If its "Airport Design Editor" and you used the "open stock airport" option then the file you've changed is the one that ships with FSX. I'm not sure if the name is different in each installation but I'm picking its not, so on my system that file for NZCH is the following and probably the same on yours, check the date stamp on it and if recent then you've probably got the right one:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\scenery\1105\scenery\APX94470.bgl

Assuming Troy's NZCH is the only addon scenery you have installed you could look at editing his AFCAD file (although he respectfully asks that you check with him first). His file is in the scenery folder wherever you placed the downloads from simviation, and the filename you want is scenery\NZCH_Airport_Ground_File.BGL

Hope that helps.

Yeah, I'm using ADE and I had to trawl through a ton of BGL's in my addon scenery folder (Got this scenery before I found you could add scenery area's to your library) to find the AFCAD. I have already edited the AFCAD (only for my personal use). smile.gif

Darn, just remembered that it is a FS9 traffic bgl. If you use it with fsx traffic, the only traffic you'll see is Operation Deep-Freeze. sad.gif All my traffic is Woai and MAIW, which are FS9 any way so it doesn't matter for me. plane.gif
