I have upgraded to a completely new system, and have not looked back since. I can only say good things about the i7 2500K chip, which seems fantastic for the money. Smooth as and no problems overclocking it. The best thing is that I have given up looking at frame rates, tweaks and spending hours trying to get smooth performance. I can now FLY again, which is what FSX should be for. Now that FSX works without hours of tweaks and testing, I have so much more time!! So I highly recommend the i7 2500K chip. The SSD (running both the OS and FSX) and 8GB of RAM also help, but the chip (air...

QUOTE (brendan @ Jun 10 2011,11:58 PM) I would have to ask all authors permission to use it in the comp if I was to win a commercial prize????, If thats the case the prize would have to be shared by me and all authors, a copy each perhaps LOL. Noooo ... I think you got that a bit wrong, grasshoppa ;-) I don't mean you'd have to ask permission for every component of your pic (aircraft, scenery, etc.) - its there to be used. I mean copyright of the *image* that anyone may create. If you used a screenie as your own desktop, that's be fine (though it'd be polite to ask -...

Yes, I had thought of that. However, even Pudding Hill, which is one of a number of un-certified NZ airstrips, has a designation in the AIP. Or are we going the Austrailian way and no longer listing un-certified strips in the AIP? EDIT: Just had an email back from Air Information Management who note Raratoka was once-upon-time listed in old AIPs, but it is no longer listed ... so no ICAO. Ah! Well! Thanks, anyway.

QUOTE (Olderndirt @ May 17 2011,2:17 AM) Sounds like we're all using SD6 except I'm still XPx32. OK - I'll dig out the XPx32 drivers and put them somewhere you can see them. Which one was corrupt - the drivers (2.2Mb) or the profiler software (221Mb)? I seem to remember there was a bit of a song and dance about removing old versions first etc.

QUOTE (mfraser @ May 17 2011,8:46 PM) It doesn't look all that different from my home simulator - except mine doesn't move!! In my home sim, sitting in front of 3x 22" widescreen monitors still provides an amazing amount of realism - and I prefer the crispness of LCD's over the projectors used in commercial simulators (I've also been on the FE simulator). I wish there was a little less talking and more video of it actually moving - if you're going to make a report on a fantastic new MOVING simulator then show us how it MOVES for cripes sake!!...
