Well that's to be expected Sam, those sceneries are getting a bit older these days. Still a vast improvement over the default airports. Alex

QUOTE (ScottyB @ Dec 11 2008, 10:48 PM) As the title reads..... Thanks, SB This screenie here... I can answer youre question,.............. it was ME that built the scenery in the pic. Yes, its BOTH Mountains of NZ and Roads and Rivers of NZ. (what used to be known as the RBE 20m mesh, and the RBE NZ Topo Scenery.) QUOTE (Charl @ Dec 11 2008, 10:52 PM) Helicopters are not recognised as AI. Use the Stemme air file from the original RNZAF AI Iroquios The stuff you are using is hardly AI though, we originally tried Deane's model and found it produced a very high overhead, even when stripped as far as possible. but i thought technically they were just fixed wing aircraft in the shape of helicopters for the sake of fsx making it work. is this not the case? oh and i know the models are far too complicated to be ai but for some reason they dont impact my frame rates which is wierd. btw, No 1 SQN...

QUOTE (deeknow @ Dec 8 2008, 11:32 PM) ...but is it true you can't create a runway on a slope in FS9? Would you basically end up with a ramp sticking out the side of the hill? Yes it's one of the laments of all versions of FS to date - no sloping runways. The GNZLAP AFCAD for NZ22 at Ruapehu is just such a case in point, it created a massive edifice sticking out of the mountain. Lawrie skilfully created a set of terraced flattens for his scenery there, which improves things a lot. Of course you don't really need an AFCAD at all (unless for AI), just fly onto the hillside...

I have both ASv6 & ASX. I find that ASX gives my system a bit of a hard time but that could be due to me not setting it up properly. Asv6 on the other hand performs flawlessly and provides that cosy feeling that your flying in weather similar to the real world. One thing about ASX is the hard haze layer between transition levels that really spoils the whole thing for me so I very rarely use ASX at the moment but the potential for some stunning skyscape is certainly there. By the way, there's anew version of ASX about to be announced shortly so hang on to your creditcard for now if your...

QUOTE (slopit12 @ Dec 1 2008, 11:33 PM) ...The ASB tower is also sort of landable with no volcano effects. Although I did get a weird slightly visible line near the tower, in the air, some sort of texture error. The helipad isn't totally landable, but I have done it. The differences would be in the way FSX places scenery - I know it's not the same as FS9, just surprised it's as close as you seem to indicate. Robin has previously mentioned the unique NZ mapping preferences which can cause various mismatch problems. Interesting that there is no "Volcano" in FSX, I...
