Today's pirate is tomorrow's last resort... don't get me wrong, if they steal stuff to circumvent either copyright or income I'll join the lynch mob. BUT browsing through this possibly valuable resource, bets are off about the legitimacy or otherwise of the contents, at the time! A conundrum.

I prefer the smaller airports to the bigger ones, but that is an outstanding demonstration of what can be done.

hmm ok, so distribution of species is controlled, as are areas...I think we can add custom biomes so maybe that's the way. The biomes need to be quite accurate, spatially, as plantation pine is essentially a mono culture not a distribution. ...its hard to get to grips with how it all comes together without full documentation

I can't actually remember if I completed the main hanger models at nwp but they'd be too basic by msfs2020 standards anyway. Lidar derived terrain is available for this area so, once the terrain sdk is available , it will be possible to update

It was raining at Ardmore the other day in the sim when I loaded it up. It was just after a band of showers passed through in real life too so while that might have been coincidence it certainly seemed decently realistic.

Yeah, at the moment it's taking up too much time, as I'm meant to be working on P3Dv5 installers, and I keep just wanting to try something in MFS.... Still, I think I've got NZCH for v5 sussed, I just want to try some toned-down ground textures, as P3Dv5 tends to have a very different tonal range. I can certainly see a time when MFS is the only real simulator, and I can't wait to see some of my objects working in it. I've had only positive results, it worked like a charm in my old PC, and works so much better in the new one. I'm aware that not everyone has the same experience, but that was...

Great pic of BXH and parked on the old gate 16 at Wellington I think. Brings back memories of heading out head down into a howling northerly or southerly carrying the loadsheet out to the Fokkers. Tap on the fuselage and shout the take off weight to the captain when he opened the window. Head down to the rear stairs, get the head count off the flight attendant, who sometimes got confused between a 40 and 48 seater F27 :D Back the flight deck with the final loadsheet then back to the office to recover..............fun times.

Cowpatz and Deeknow, Thanks for your kind answers. Cowpatz, I do not want to spend $$$$ on maps Deeknow, you have hit in the nail with great find for PERFECT FREE MAP website showing me specific names of beaches, rivers, mountains, lakes, etc etc in northmost area of North Island of New Zealand. Now I can match map locations to my screenshots!! Once again, thanks to both of you for kind answers. Regards, Aharon

My last flight sim build was by PBTech and updated a couple of times since then. Not really simming right now; lost a bit of interest since a) I stopped flying IRL and b) started paragliding IRL. Even so, I have my eyes on the new HP Reverb G2 VR later this year. I have quite a bit of hardware on my sim as the original use case was like you ... 'trying out' real flights (in Waikato area) before doing them for real ... and circuit training. If you can't get VR, then do yourself a solid and get TrackIR instead ... and pedals (mine, unfortunately, are currently broke; rudder is fine, but the r/h...

FS98 ???????? Ah, yes, the last great sim of the twentieth century... My memory of the various developments in NZ elevation data is kind of cloudy -- the first major advancement was Christian Stock's 150m and 40m meshes for FS2002 and FS2004? FSX didn't get a useful (as in matching topography features and airport elevations) 20 metre mesh until VLC, and then later Orbx NZ. Of course if you can afford Orbx NZ then that would be the way to go for FSX, but the now free VLC is still a major improvement over default FSX, especially if you are coming from FS98!
