QUOTE (hugh @ Dec 17 2007, 10:03 PM) Looking forward to that Hamner Springs too. Is that set in the old NZscenery photoscenery? No, I am going to stick with the default/VOZ SE mesh mainly because I like to have the change of scenery with the seasons, specially the South Is airports with the snow. I am also working on Gore.

Thanks to TopRob and Snowman - I now have water approximately where it should be. In the world of the Guru, there's always someone who knows less than you do. I have been helping a mate with his flightsim and he thinks that I am pretty switched on. Fortunately he doesn't visit this forum so I let him believe that I know what I'm doing. Tonight while helping him tune his new joystick, I "borrowed" his scenery file (Scenery/Ocen/Scenery) via the modern wonder know as a pen drive. As was suggested by Rob it restored my water scenery. There are a couple of other scenery...

I also have FlyTampa's San Francisco, and think it is well worth the $$$, even though it is just the airport. It also fits perfectly into the photoreal MegaCity San Francisco scenery, and that covers a HUGE area !! Lawrie. >nzflag<

I opened your KML file in Google Earth and had to tidy up the Properties -- it should only include the tag. You can in fact assign the tag in FSX KML from the drop-down list -- I prefer this method. I then resaved the file in GE, and it compiled ok in FSX KML

Tell me about it! A lot of GA airfields here started off as WWII 'A-frame' airfields, with three runways, and quite often the conditions of the original land sale stipulated that the farmers could still farm 'in the gaps', so it's quite common to see a grass border around the runways and crops everywhere else. Try doing that in AFCAD! Even the hard textures are very limited - concrete taxiways (all WWII era hard airfields were concrete, so it's the predominant texture) have a 'weft' that follows the orientation of the taxiway or apron. Can't do that...

Start with a small field that you know of, real airfields are muchmore popular than fictional ones (apart from fictional airstrips, like Tony's place in VOZ)

QUOTE (Charl @ Nov 17 2007, 07:38 PM) And what NZ FSX needs more than any bits of airport, is a decent set of landclass/textures. Big ask. Good grief, I'm on a soapbox... (Gets off, leaves quietly.) This is all really good to hear. I'm always mindful of the 'legacy folk' who stick to n-1 (where n = the latest product). There will always be those at the cutting edge who have to have the latest, but I think there are still going to be FS9 users out there for a long time. Don't worry about the soapbox, you should see me on mine some days! I've had a decent...
