Hi, David here. I just had a look at your video Jon, and I made a bit of a discovery. I saw that the airport terrain was flat right up to the edges. After playing with the settings, I found that this occurs if the "terrain mesh resolution" is set to 38m or higher. I usually have it set to 10m. At any setting lower than 19m, FSX draws little hills around the edges of any raised flatten area. Have a look at the screenshots below to see the effect of changing this setting: Terrain mesh resolution set to 38m - you must have wondered why runway 32 (the dive off the back of the apron) was...

I havnt heard from him for a while- last i heard was him asking about water blend masks on the fsdeveloper website. If he is using the technique i described then its a lot of work to get the land/water mask and belnd masks working....he may have just lost interest. There is also the issue of licensing since i think he was using Northland Regional councils imagery....

This is how Microsoft modelled the terrain around Hoover Dam, so that's certainly a good option. The trick will be to make it blend reasonably well with the ground. Christian

I learned how the LOD works with GMAX meshes - but it didnt fix the problem. But, I have figured out the problem. The objects which are disappearing are not textured, they only have a diffuse color. Once I assigned a texture to them, they seem to work fine. I can only assume this means that all objects must be textured.

Cheers Rob, I thought it was going to be much more complicated. I've already placed them on a flatten as it's an old Forest Service airstrip in the Central Nth island.

did you make the afcad ??if so you could remove it by remove fuel on the afcad ,,or go to scenerydesign.org and look up excbuilderv2 and use that to excule the object, always face 000 degrees 360 the same thing slew over the object then open excbuilder and press the buttons and bang restart should be gone. looks good dude also excbuilder can only get rid of default scenery object not ones put in by bgl file from avsim etc ....
