FS 2 is certainly doing well in the race for a great modern sim. They seem to be keen to help developers get stuck into large areas, of course this can only help their market penetration, otherwise they'd have to do everything themselves, which might take years. So yeah, this would be a good chance for someone local to complete a very nice, innovative project. Pity there isn't any nice Alps photos available, otherwise I'd have a wee look myself. On the other hand, after working all weekend, I'm very much aware of just how much work is involved in making scenery -- and I'm just working on a...

Yup and for FS2004 users, there is Scenery Align which I regard as a necessity. Remember FS9 requires you to add the scenery, then close the sim and then restart it. This could take half the day on a sim as bloated as mine. I suspect it will help for WIN7 too.

I was checking this autogen package specific just for real , this AGN was design for a lower res photo so when put on a hi res the AGN expand's to a stage it takes over the scenery, I did a few compares and the standard bush/tree is four to five times it should be , so that add won't be used until a way to reduce it, one off things you pick up .... pointless having all these top aircraft and not being able to use them because inflated AGN. It was this addon that crashed the PC , understand and see the reason why, also found the mapping not to around Hokitika for example, in on the plain s...

That's funny, I was *just* looking at that myself. The only problem with high res mesh is that you realise no airport is truly flat! It's pretty amazing how good this "10 year old sim" really is. There's got to be millions of polys on screen

Ive been doing some research on finding more about the TEAL base at Mechanics Bay, and also Hobsonville so one can eventually build the Flying boat bases there, id love to do a wind back scenery of Mechanics Bay and Hobsonville to go with FSX and FS9, thankfully i have found a few things online, and the RNZAF proboard forum has given up some good things. I have some pics and layouts so i might start with a basic mechanics bay with the slip way and hard stands

Yes, I use FTX trees. This is the only Orbx scenery I use in Prepar3D, though, so I don't get the full benefit -- that is, I don't get to see their custom NZ trees which are included in the NZ region. (I think this is how it works -- there are custom trees added to FTX NZ, plus custom textures for default trees. You will only see the new trees if you use FTX NZ, but you will see the new textures on all existing autogen if you just use FTX Trees) However these 'default' trees with new textures are great for NZ, and make all the difference, I think. Never been aware of any performance issues.

My problem has been solved but a new one has emerged! For years my scenery library aircraft traffic has been set at 100% but when i checked yesterday it was set at 40% so i reset it to 100% & hey presto all the AI aircraft have returned to Whenuapai & Ohakea!. Today when i started up FS9 the traffic has reduced to 40% again! I can't seem to fix the traffic at 100% as it reboots to 40% each time i shut down & reboot so my problem now is how to fix the traffic at 100%!

Re-install FTX NZNI again, over the top off your current install, this was a regular problem and how I fixed it or be a wander to the ORBX forums.

Think I fixed it, thanks Rob. I checked the QMID and it didn't look like it was near a boundary, so I just re-drew the two water polygons but made them merge at the top of the island rather than halfway along. That way if there is still a strip of ocean - it's on top of actual ocean this time, therefore not visible! Thanks for the prompts on re-laying the ocean polygons and the QMID check.
