QUOTE (Charl @ May 20 2012,10:20 AM) , it would have been great to see the whole of NZ PR and autogenned in 4 seasons! That has been a wish off mine , make for a very large scenery project course need to find an easier way to do autogen so it looking dynamic .. the April screenie banner show this as very incomplete but its real Christchurch .

One reason i continually mention photo , now if you study ORBX rivers being ahead of the game exactly what they did for a texture .. to have rivers and coastlines work the same is a task that is huge but not impossible task .. old saying is .. simply takes time , and many just don't get payed for all addon's produced .. FSX is doing well by compare off its six year ago release .

Yeah, I was thinking the same - a great way to showcase NZ. I think it would be safe to say there's probably almost as many flying the virtual NZ skies who aren't NZers as those who are. Surely there must be at least some small translation of that into desire to visit the real NZ? And anyway, its not like people can do anything useful with the photos once they are in the flight sim.

QUOTE (zkcav @ Apr 15 2012,1:15 AM) Awesome Adrian - thanks for the heads - up. I'm planning a UK tour so will download your recommendations. Page is now bookmarked. You're very welcome zkcav. Glad it was useful. I'll post any new gems I find as I'm building up my UK installation while the NZ scenery scene is quiet. Thanks for posting those great screens. They really showcase the flight well. QUOTE (Mynameisnemo @ Apr 16 2012,10:12 PM) There's also a UK2000 version out of this, I had the freeware EGGP one quite a while ago but found it was quite a FPS hit...

QUOTE (Ian Warren @ Apr 15 2012,4:54 PM) What about rebuilding the B & W , the area is not that large , scow the land from photoreal already free and build on that studying google to correct information . small town may be an interesting project . A good idea for the city, but the airport really needs at least 30cm, preferably 15cm textures, if you want to go the photo-texture way. Although I only do airports based on an aerial image, there are other ways, I guess, and I'm looking at that at the moment for Timaru. The only real problem is that using standard FSX landclass...

Funny how things come full circle - for all these years people complain about how NZ in FSX is too brown, and then when OrbX release their scenery the complaint is it's not brown enough! /laugh.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= laugh.gif /> I think the general consensus though is that Vector Landclass gives a more "realistic" depiction but not quite as graphically pleasing, whereas OrbX looks nicer but a bit more "representative".

From a quick check on the Orbx forum, the main culprit here is if you close the wrapper before the install is finished, as this deletes the temp files too soon.

Yes, I really should post some more screenshots of the "West Melton Tavern", but I probably won't... It won't be released until most of the actual airport upgrade is finished -- or at least until I can make sense of how it will finally appear. However if I get it to a point that I'm happy with how it works, then I might release a 'preview' version. This is still on track as a freeware project, so I guess I can relax my normal rules on only releasing totally finished airports.
