Sorry Ian, I dont remember the reg. From what my mate said when he was watching the take off, he said the nose lifted normally and that was as far as it went, it scrapped along most of the runway. Rotation was past DHL at the end of 05, he panicked because he was sure it was going to go straight off the end and in to the creek. Some other incidents I saw ; There was a BA 747-400 that srapped the bottom of no.1 engine one night, apparently he got caught in some shear in the flare, that would have been an impressive bank angle. It was quite common for the 767-200's to have a unlocked nose...

Hmm, skyhawks. The bristol has no internals unfortunately, shes looking worse for wear outside, but hey, I got some interesting angles and the light was perfect. I'll work through the whole lot, sadly monkeybdg I didn't shoot anything in Nelson, the airport was dead when I was there :(

Great shots Jon, yea, you can almost see my house in the middle-left of the picture behind the cloud, if that cloud weren't there you'd be able to see me waving for sure. :P Alex

Damn !!! Wish i had known you were coming to Tauranga. I would have popped out to meet you at the airport Jon. Always good to be able to put a face to a name  Lawrie. No worries Lawrie, I'm back in about 6 weeks for another couple of days. Sweet ! Gimme a heads-up a week or a few days beforehand, and we can see if we can arrange a catch-up sometime in between your commitments. Lawrie. >nzflag<

I know what you mean. And man Massey 120 goes back awhile... What was the number before that? Im Massey 811 (Massey 48). It was back in 99/00... I started Aug 11 1999... my flight exam for the course was Aug 30 2000 :) and i'm not sure what you mean by the number before that? the number before mine was my then gf's (she is now my wife) Massey 119... but the flying didnt stick and she quit before going solo :(

Love that Huey sound too, think I'll have to go dig out my old copy of Apocalypse Now ;) Yeah.........love that unique sound of those "sonic booms", these sounds are made when then blades break the sound barrier. Almost all helos do this but the 2 blade design of the Huey kicks up that "wop wop". Some of the newer high tech helos don't break the sound barrier, they spin the rotor slower, for a silent stealthy approach to target.

Nice photos, that Tomahawk appears to be ZK-WAG which is usually based at the Auckland Aero Club just down the road from my flying school What flying school is that? Ardmore? :) Yeah, Ardmore.

Good pictures towerguy  . I've thought a lot about what it'd be like to do formation flying. Me and Trolly tried some online but we couldn't maintain the same speed :( , like if I was too fast I'd reduce throttle and pull up so then I'm too far above him, so I push down on the stick and I'm going too fast again :( It is easier in real life because you have the feel of the a/c, whereas you don't sitting at a desk with a 17" monitor and joystick.... although have seen someone get knocked badly by wake turbulence on a formation take off, suffice to say,...
