QUOTE (chopper_nut @ Jan 18 2012,4:12 PM) I reckon the power to weight on the 300 is better. The 44 was never designed for this sort of work, the 300 is better suited. Thanks Nick /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> , I new I would be corrected by the man at helm /cool.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= B-) border= 0 alt= cool.gif />

More ice in summer than winter depends on the way you look at it. The freezing level (the altitude at which the ambiant air temperature reaches zero) will be lower during the winter, so if you enter visible moisture (cloud essentially) at or above this level ice is likely. As the weather gets warmer, generally the freezing level rises. For us lowly souls who are confined below the flight levels due to a lack of pressurization / oxygen, this causes issues. If you need to go somewhere at 7000ft because the route MSA is 6000ft and the freezing level is 6000ft and you will be in cloud its going...

No, aisle seat for all the longer flights so that I can get up and walk around a lot. But for the trip to Madeira, yes a window seat so that I could video the landing, although it was normal this time. Great for photos at Funchal, and the road around the airport gives some fantastic vantage points. But soon back to CHC !!! Probably my favourte 3 foreign airports for getting good shots, Zurich, Swizerland, Funchal, Madeira and Innsbruck, Austria. smooth landings.

QUOTE (deeknow @ Dec 2 2011,7:07 PM) Yeah was a great trip thanks HW. And very warm Ian. We didnt really know what to expect of Samoa, but its your typical pacific island sort of experience really. Great warm weather, occasional tropical rain-storms, relaxed island pace of life (dont depend or worry about timetables), and lots of lovely scenic and natural delights. Not the cheapest of places to be honest if you prefer to stay somewhere western, but there are lots of cheaper options if you dont mind roughing it a little. We had our 2-year old in tow so we we're doing the hi-de-hei...

QUOTE (happytraveller @ Nov 28 2011,10:04 PM) Yep, that was the one. The other hotel that is adjacent to one of the runways is the Comfort Runway Hotel. Pity about the price of the airport hotel though, something around NZD362 a night even if you book in advance. Ouch!! /ohmy.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :o border= 0 alt= ohmy.gif /> smooth landings. /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> Cheers.

QUOTE (happytraveller @ Nov 15 2011,10:20 AM) Do you think that the picture on the tail of the Norwegian 737 800 in the second photo looks like Adolf Hitler? Nah, it's John Key in 25 years. /biggrin.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :D border= 0 alt= biggrin.gif />
