QUOTE (Ian Warren @ Sep 2 2010, 01:26 AM) Since the obvious change , there were two cockpits , a Canberra and a DC-3 that you could have got into , wonder if it was the day ? rather than going to far , Both Wigram and Ferrymead would be a start but arrive buy appointment . Yes, I have thought about them - though the Wigram one is very dark and consequently would require quite long exposure times. It would be nice to know who to approach about these but I guess I can go out there and ask whoever is on duty.

QUOTE (Splitpin @ Aug 31 2010, 04:09 PM) Dont ya love photoshop......have to start playing again.....there are more buried away here on the forum some place. Thanks for peeking Pete /thumbup1.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= thumbup1.gif /> Yup - whoever the person was who did those pics is very talented - it takes a steady hand and a good eye to get that level of seamless retouching. I'm pretty good at taking out dust & scratches, telephone poles / lines and other "medium level" stuff, but I'm not sure if I would be good enough...

QUOTE (Ian Warren @ Aug 21 2010, 03:13 PM) One thing Peter , did book your mention the very unreliable Jumo with max hours off 24-27 before a complete overhaul required or they fail . I have a couple good books on the US Army Corps loitering the jet fields , one person was Chuck Yeager . Yeah, there were some unflattering remarks about the Jumo's. If I remember rightly, Galant said that he had a few occasions when the engines just up and quit on him. Now, that would put the wind up in a combat situation! It's been a few months since I read the book (which I borrowed), so...

QUOTE (deaneb @ Aug 14 2010, 01:54 PM) LOL - funnily enough no. We were all pretty young skins back then, I'm still very close friends with 6 of those guys and keep in touch regularly. Deane, its interesting isnt it.....the ties you make through the service are very strong. I was at a re-union (air force) not long ago , and i hadn't seen some of them for 10 plus years(some more) but it was just like it was yesterday.

We had Convair,s fly out off Wigram when the airfield was in operation , these were with 'Pionair' , the photo,s showing lengthen,d '5800' least that what i think they called it really lost its looks , with the age off the hulls being older than our Herc's it make you wonder in the next few years the C130 could be used in the civil setup as many around the world do .

QUOTE (husker @ Jul 29 2010, 06:38 PM) It's a great shot actually - bit different form the usual 'airport shots' There's a great bit a 'aeroplane porn' in the Dec 2008 Pacific Wings with a '6-C check' and front pressure bulkhead mods (25,000 hours work!) on NGJ. They talk about NGJ being a hybrid of Classic and NextGen 737 parts with a unique parts lists and it is actually newer than the first NexGen's built. Cheers, Wayne Thanks again Wayne....i love all this sort of info.. /thumbup1.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0...

I think its too early to say weather it will or wont appear at Classic Fighters next year. Looking at those photos it is really moving along but in saying that a long way to go. The owner is hoping it will be ready for Classic Fighters next year as is the AVSPECs team and if these guys have the will then who knows. I guess the down side is that if it doesnt appear at Classic Fighters next year and flies before the end of 2011 then their isnt much chance that we will see it appear at an NZ airshow. If it doesnt make it to Classic Fighters that will be sad but it wont be due to a lack of effort...

Black Hawks swoop in on Marlborough Four-bladed, twin-engined S-70A Black Hawk helicopters have swooped on Marlborough. The military aircraft and 67 personnel from the Aviation Brigade of the Australian Army are taking part in exercise Anzac Rotor, which focuses on training in New Zealand's rugged mountain ranges. Three of the helicopters arrived at Base Woodbourne at the weekend after they were transported to Christchurch on a C-17 Globemaster. Another is expected to arrive in the region today. An Australian Army spokeswoman said the helicopters and personnel flew into Christchurch...
