QUOTE (AlisterC @ Apr 8 2014,9:53 PM) The worry is that the virus programmers might have some ways to mess with XP that they've been hiding until XP is no longer supported. I started to run into too many programs that won't run on XP, and it was starting to annoy me. FSpause and FStramp for starters that I can now use. Plus a lot of new PC games won't work on XP either. That is the concern, though it's a pretty stable OS after 13yrs or so of security patches. Add to that a decent anti-virus and I suspect most people will be ok. But I would agree, Win 7 is faster and...

Hi Bob, Pleased you have finally got it installed, yes you were right with the icon not having run as Administrator on the drop down. I hadn't been able to check before adding the comment but now I see I was wrong. I think it must be something to do with it being an msi file rather than exe. Sorry again for sending false hope. Regards Stewart

QUOTE (Nosecone @ Feb 25 2014,10:40 PM) Hi all Progress on the MD500e sim is nearing completion so I’m turning my thoughts towards the visual side of the project. I have one fully working sanyo plc xe40 short throw projector and just won another one which needs a bulb off trade me. It’s hoped that both projectors will produce the outside views and my lcd monitor will display the instruments Only snag is my video card has 1 vga, 1 hdmi and 2 dvi d. At present my lcd is connected to the dvi d and the projector is connected to the vga The projectors been the age they are only have...

Dean, I tried PCAlacrity, because I had found Ken Salter's earlier stuff well worth having for FS9, but it didn't work out. Is there a good list of what we need, as opposed to what MS has decided we want? ATB

QUOTE (omitchell @ Mar 11 2014,12:10 PM) Just downloaded that programme you mentioned right before refreshing this post. What is it specifically (Columns, numbers etc) am I looking for in there? EDIT: Scratch that think I found it, Virtual size jumped to 1Gb just on startup alone Ok just reassigned about 11Gb of HDD space to virtual memory. Resized my VAS allocation size and switched from Active Sky to REX (Better load demand for texture files), lets see if this helps... (Failing that I have a monkey wrench to apply to nether regions...) Also loaded an OOM fix I found at Microsoft...

QUOTE (scaber @ Mar 3 2014,6:06 PM) Try this: 1. Select FSX from the icon on the tool bar - or use the Alt-tab key to cycle through the open programs to select FSX 2. Once you have selected FSX hold down the Alt key and while it's held down press enter (ie Alt-Enter) - there will be a fair bit of screen flickering (well there is on my setup) but eventually you will have FSX full screen in whatever resolution you originally told it to run. Once it is full screen I can usually do the Alt-Enter thing again and get back to my preferred screen set up. Hope this helps many thanks...

QUOTE (Dontcopy @ Feb 17 2014,10:43 PM) For the most part it looks reasonably good. I would ditch the watercooler in favour of a beefier GPU. A stock i5 won't throw out much heat at all and since it's a non 'k' version you're not really gonna be able to overclock it. So there is not much point in the watercooler. You'll probably also find that the Sound Card won't offer much, if anything over the one that comes on your motherboard. In terms of storage, have a gander at Samsungs 840 series of SSDs. Really good, but in saying that there is nothing wrong with...

QUOTE (scaber @ Feb 7 2014,10:17 AM) They look like windscreen internal reflections and windscreen smears to me. Try a default aircraft and see if they still show up. Hi Scaber, nope not window reflections - they are scenery textures in the distance (they also appear when in spot/external views). Plus, this is actually the default Cessna Caravan /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> I jut flew to Nelson IFR and the haze/cloud was only around the land - as I flew in to Nelson the haze literally stopped at the coastline as the sea textures etc...

SLI doesn't play nicely with FSX.... I bought another 670GTX to go SLI and it was all ok for a while. But every now and then I'd get a complete re-start. I actually put it down to the power supply I was running, a Corsair 650 and of course, bought another.... So, 4 hours in to my new stable set up I was surprised for it to re-boot once again. Ah ha, not that happy... I've kept my set-up but instead of using surround I use the option below it, sorry can't remember what it is called. Completely stable now of course and don't have any of the weird window issues I was getting...

QUOTE (mjrhealth @ Jan 31 2014,8:05 AM) You can always get the i5 4670 k i think it is, it doesnt have HT. The 4770k is a lottery, mines stable at 4.2 yet others have 4.5 with less volts, than there is teh glue on HS issue, requires delidding to get temps down, which i am not willing to do. Wonder whats next now they really dont have any competition?? Try disabling HT in the BIOS to possibly get a better overclock (if you dont have other applications that need it).

QUOTE (Splitpin @ Jan 30 2014,6:33 PM) Fingers crossed , i dont have these issues . Pato , you are in good hands here .... just hang in there. God knows where these gurus learn this stuff , but im glad they do. /notworthy.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= notworthy.gif /> I wouldn't have these issues either if I could just leave things alone, but unfortunately I like to experiment. Like you, I am grateful for people like Ian who assist.
