There's quite a lot of info available for error 1722 -- including a "Software Licensing System Reset Tool" which is meant to help. Just google 'fsx error 1722'

Can you not just install the firmware update onto a CD iso file and boot it from there? That's how you update Intel SSD's

Good results! Just be aware as we head into the summer months* that ambient temps will be rising so the ability of the air to carry heat away from your components will be reduced. So be prepared to reduce your clock speeds to suit /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> * Its raining very heavily as a write this. Summer....yeah, right haha

Thanks Ian & Timmo, Have taken your words of wisdom to heart and reviewed the goggles in that light and that of time and increased knowledge on the subject. I am all for goggles for FPV model flying but for simming I think the lack of pixel count would detract from the imersion aspects and make instrument panels very hard to read. Also would not work with "real" or other fixed panels which I count as desirable. I have check the "track IR" thingies and they look good options to multi screens. Thanks again for your words and please accept my apologies for my late...

I also have the black box flash around the strobe light in spot view, and have seen it on other YouTube videos too. I believe it is an ATI video card related problem but would love to find a fix!

Usually, Graphics cards and CPU's are soldered onto the motherboard, so cannot be replaced. RAM and hard-drive almost always can be replaced.

The components look pretty sweet. Havent seen the 2GB EVGA 560Ti for sale here in NZ, you gonna order from overseas? I wonder if you'll see much benefit from it over the 1GB model? Price isnt a lot more tho so I spose its a nice future proofing exercise. What do you get features wise in the "Pro" Z68 ASRock m/b's over a lesser model? Seems like a few more I/O ports, onboard RAID? what else? Just wondering if its worth the extra $50us over some of the other Z68 models?

Hmm not bad....but I think you can do better for the price- Are you aware of Pricespy.co.nz? I just went there and applied some filters to get laptops around the price you want to spend (i.e. around $1000 NZD) and there are a few i5s coming up....so maybe worth a look? With FSX and multicores, try to get faster clock speeds on each core (i.e. a fast i3 or i5) rather than more cores as the multicore functionality was only added late in development and isn't that great in splitting the work /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif />

So I would go for a i7 because of your budget. Because you said that you are going to be doing school work I would get a big hard drive. A computer along the lines of what you said would be good/perfect for school and could achieve nearly 100% max settings in FSX. Just make sure that the price is in New Zealand dollars (If you are from NZ) because most i7 laptops are over $1400.

Im not a huge fan of ether but i had to make a choice /blink.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= blink.gif /> on my setup which was intel before and now the AMD 6xcore which i like the fact i can infinity mask all cores in the fsx cfg very easy and get huge jump in performance over letting it do itself ,money was the factor and amd seem to be good for the dollar ,i think i get over 20ghz on the cpu with my 1055t ,nothing flash but sure does run FSX well ..

QUOTE (AlisterC @ Oct 29 2011,10:45 PM) I'd agree with most of that. I have a PC with half the specs of yours and can run VLC and Real NZ scenery at over 40fps most of the time (default planes) Number one on the list would be make you have SP1 then SP2 installed (though I'm guessing PMDG is for SP2 only installs) Can't help you with the PMDG though, but I'm not surprised you're struggling for fps with it in an area full of 3d buildings. Your PC will be working hard enough as it is just to maintain the PMDG level of detail, and stressing it out with extra scenery...

QUOTE (mfraser @ Oct 20 2011,12:24 PM) FWIW - yes, I've recently had a similar problem and it turned out to be a faulty ram stick in a pair of 2. I had to experiment with removing and re-installing the sticks individually to find the faulty one..... simming now on a paltry 2gb /sad.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :( border= 0 alt= sad.gif /> glad its not on my sim however with the new pc I do get the odd crash when using the menu bar in flight on windows 7 which is frustrating. I must get around to doing a write up and post some photos of the sim I have built also

I use the Fly now with the engines are already started. They just shut down. When I use CTRL + E the engine cranks over but does not fire. I haven't any failures set. I just be in P51D cockpit and the default settings are both magnetos on, fuel pump was off so turned that on, mixture 100%. Had throttle at about 10%. She cranked but not fire. I really don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall.
