Ohh yeah, it would run FSX better. It won't run it at Max settings, but it should give reasonable FPS. The 9800GT is about the same as an HD5670, which is quite a bit faster than your current card, it also allows for future upgrades as the motherboard is fairly new.

The parts list certainly looks good, I guess its a pre-assembled machine? As far as FSX goes your FPS will depend on how you set sliders and what scenery and AI and aircraft addons you are using at the time. 30-40FPS should be achievable most of the time, but at a busy airport with lots of AI and a complex aircraft model you will still see it drop into the 20's on occasion, sometimes lower possibly. Seems like with FSX it gets to a point where no matter how much $$$ you throw at it you get diminishing returns. That rig should set you up nicely for other more modern games...

Looks good, you have some similiar components there to what I plan on using for my build. Though I'm slowly buying things bit by bit. Looking forward to seeing what the GTX 560Ti produces as far as results with FSX.

If you are using FSUIPC disable the autosave, some systems that tax's them too much if they are on the limit. Will cause big pauses.

QUOTE (AndrewJamez @ Aug 26 2011,4:09 PM) So when i put my i5 2500K together I bolted on a Corsair H60. SUPER quiet while not gamming and only pulls high 40's running FSX clocked at 4.0ghz. Holy cow, that thing looks like the radiator out of a Caterpillar bull-dozer /laugh.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= laugh.gif /> Real interesting info re the case design and H20 coolers tho Andrew, cheers mate, gives us something else to consider

Cheers for that Snowman, I found that scenery at the oz site, looking forward to redoing the sir Frances flight with appropriate scenery. He ended up going all the way to Japan so will research the whole trip, I quite like the whole historical aspect of a trip like this. Thanks again. /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif />

Get the i5 2500K on a P67 or the newer Z68 Mobo. You will waste $150 on the i7 2600K for nothing because the hyperthreading you get for the extra cash does nothing for FSX. Get at least a GTX 460 or 560 video card and 8Gb of DDR3 ram. Try and get at least 1600mhz ram. Make sure your power supply is at least 550watts and has 2 PCI express connectors. Also a decent cooler for your CPU. Then a nice fast drive and your good to go. Seperate drives for FSX are better. A nice case and your all done for around $1500. /biggrin.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :D border= 0 alt=...

QUOTE (AlisterC @ Aug 1 2011,5:40 PM) Pete, where exactly are you? Have you posted your PC specs anywhere? You might be surprised how well you can run FSX if you just do it right. There is good advice here for starters, especially defrag and turning off processes not required by windows.. I have a modest PC by moden standards, and can run it just fine. I'm in Nelson myself. Maybe I can help get your PC to your magic 30fps mark without spending any money? Hi Alister. Yes I would be interested to talk to you.I can go over all the problems when we hook up.I can't send a PM until...

I've not heard of it before? /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> *google wasn't much help as to what it actually is/ does It's basically a GUI for applying Jesus Altuve's config tweaks: fsl-texturefix-v11-zip disappearing-textures-fix-for-fsx It's really ggod!
