QUOTE (IslandBoy77 @ Sep 27 2010, 10:02 PM) In theory less ms is always best (and I'm sure the Apple fanbois would agree ... /tongue.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :P border= 0 alt= tongue.gif /> ). I've got 2 monitors - 1 5 & 1 2 - and I can't say that I've seen an appreciable difference for any sort of gaming. Possibly it depends on quality and brands and how they get the image to screen. DCR or contrast ratio wuld be important, too. Thanks for the reply....... a lot of other forums are saying the same thing. I've decided to just pay the little...

I have been reading these threads with great interest.... I have just re-checked the specs of my equipment and am going outside to commit hari-kari. How on earth I manage to get a moving picture with the rubbish I can afford totally beats me. Farewell, cruel world. /dry.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= <_< border= 0 alt= dry.gif />

QUOTE (Timmo @ Sep 11 2010, 02:30 PM) hmm checking on pricespy, I'm not sure that 2-3k will get close to the specs you've posted though? Ill investigate the HP option a bit more....the Envy any good? Agree with the crapware though- I've built my desktops in the past to avoid that, but it's a bit harder with a laptop. Might be the RAM pushing the price past the $3k, as the 4GB chips are around $280-$300 each (not that one has 2 buy those "on top" of a system that already has 8GB, but the value to the manufacturer is around that, whereas the 2GB...

Another good tool i use with FSX is the FPSlimiter. Here Windows/Java is managing the FPS not the FSX. No stuttering with constant 25 FPS.

I agree, I have all that turned off as well, I use auslogics boostspeed, defrag and system optimising software. I have always defraged even after every fsx addon, hell try doing a defrag after installing Orbx's australia and you'll see what a difference it makes. It takes and hr or more to defrag all those 3-4000 fragmented files. It has to help perfomance. there's no question about it. My approach to computor setups is to optimise performance and minimilise programme installations. Keep good house keeping practises and keep every thing neat, tidy and organised, that way a fresh...

QUOTE (tdale @ Aug 28 2010, 04:21 PM) Hi Sean I just about gave up on THD2GO or Eyefinity having reseached the pros and cons of both. THD2GO just supports 1680x1050 altho those screens are now hard to get. I had thought bthat 3 x 1280x1024 19" screens may be better as its a natively supported res in THD2GO and cheaper and a few less pixels to draw. Is there any option to see yours going? Cheers Tony Hi Tony I am using THD2GO and have three Asus 22 inch monitors and running the res at 4080x768 and works ok for me if you want to look at some of my screens have a look at Doug

Yep - 1st system looks ok - not sure about the integrated (?) shared graphics - anything graphics-card wise that doesn't have only it's own RAM to use puts a drain on the CPU. Still, since the chipset is newish, FS9 may not care too much. Only way to known is to give it a burl. You can pick up cheap 256MB PCI-E cards from TM for less than $50 that would be an inexpensive way to find out how much of a hit (if any) you're taking - and then we'd be enlightened, too... /winkyy.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= ;) border= 0 alt= winkyy.gif />

Just had another idea. Instead of making a whole new ASI. Could i just change the face of the ASI? So i would keep all the speeds in the same place, but just move where the green arc and all that go. Ill try that out and see how it goes. Well, with some careful editing in....erm...paint haha. I got it looking pretty good

QUOTE (deeknow @ Aug 22 2010, 02:58 PM) Hey Mat, you might wanna remove your vatsimindicators.net image from your footer, I think the service is down, not sure how permanantly. I've noticed that any time I'm in a forum site where someone has one the page load gets held up in Firefox while it tries to fetch the image. Its a shame as its a neat idea. Hiya Dean Many thanks for pointing that out mate, most appreciated! I had forgotten about the signoff image, and so never noticed that it wasn't working, but was wondering why the pages always seemed to be loading lol....

Which is why it's v important to have a line-interactive UPS between yr computer & the wall. The 700va's worth having are around $200, but worth every penny. All reading this should be mindful that there are about 8 different types of "power event" that cause problems for a computer - both over-voltage and under-voltage types. A REALLY good power supply can help with a couple of the over-voltages (and poss even 1 or 2 of the under-voltage ones), but it still runs the risk of being "zapped". And since the supply of power in NZ is far from perfect...

This will depend on how Captain Sim and Wilco have engineered their aircraft. While I don't have those particular aircraft, I tried something similar with the FS9 version of the Captain Sim C130 - with mixed resultsl!! Certain functions worked while others didn't. The only way to check is to use something like FS Panel Studio, remove the autopilot gauge(s) (There may be more than one) and replace it with your preferred autopilot gauge. As always, make sure you back up the panel.cfg file first!! Good luck! Mat

QUOTE (dbcunnz @ Aug 2 2010, 09:22 PM) Logbookeditor should fix the problem and can be downloaded from Doug Thanks for your reply. The link was blocked by the site, but I was able to search the FlightSim.com website. After picking up some ideas through a number of their pages, I went to avsim.com, found and downloaded: 1. Daniel van Os's software 'fsxlogrecovery 11' 2. Lamont Clark's software 'logbookedit' Software 1. fixed the problem, and Software 2. allowed for safely editing the logbook. Colin
