QUOTE (Timmo @ Jul 22 2009, 08:05 PM) The first thing I'd look at doing would be upping RAM /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> After that, look at the graphics card but FSX is not particularly hard on these (you CPU should be fine) Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Pretty sure I can't upgrade the CPU anymore for my socket 939 board anyway. Any recommendations for best type and amount of RAM for my system? I don't want to be throwing too much cash at it when I will do a full rebuild in a year or so. I have also read on another...

QUOTE (Timmo @ Jun 27 2009, 02:20 PM) You can just rename the file extension to .bak (i.e. thames.bak)- Then you can rename it back to bgl if it isn't the problem. What sim are you using? Hi again, revisiting this problem (im using FSX) I have tried the advice above have had limited success. Moving the saved flights didn't seem to work. Changing extension to .bak does work but of course reverts back to default fSX scenery of NZTH Change back to bgl and it crashes on startup. Are there any values somewhere I need to change? The default FSX NZTH scenery for Thames isnt very...

i put the bufferpools, fibrefractiontime and that was about it i still have alot more fiddling to do, but at the moment i am looking at going back to vista and tweak that, surely would be better to tweak from a higher frame rate starting point, i might also add that the vista had a 1 tb hard drive (have 2 500gb hd now) and was preloaded at the factory with all the acer programs running in the background, so that in itself is rather impressive!!

Finally a solution ; 1)Graphics card at fault. Installed 2 brand new cards. (Stay away from this make) Even installed cards on different MOB awith athlon and intel CPUs. 2)Also I run my screen setting inverted because of modified desk where screen has to be mounted upside down, and this has small issues when running flight sim. 3)Bought the ATI equivalent of this card, now everything seems fine. hopefully get back to FS after taken 2 weeks to sort this.

My Static Object Library is at the top of my list....and i'm still guessing that it was a rogue AFCAD. I'm still scratching my head as to why this error occured though...oh well at least all seems well again!

I have set it up sucessfully and got it working- Im now rebuilding it to be even simpler I hope (i.e. instead of using wire to hold the LEDs, I discovered that straws from Subway hold them exactly inside)

It would pay to check what the key combination is mapped to- Have a look in the settings > Keyboard. I can't really thing of any thing that would cause an actual crash though? If you still cant rectify it, just turn off crash detection in the realism settings (although I think these are forced on for the missions?) Have you installed the service packs?

QUOTE (NZ255 @ Jun 30 2009, 12:34 PM) Have a look at this: Scroll down till you get to the Nhancer bit. Or read the whole lot, I think I noticed a difference after changing my settings from what it said. Good luck and congrats with the card.....I'm thinking about this for my next purchase. After buying more ram my GFX card is the one bottle necking my system now. Nick Hi Nick, Thanks for that info and I will certainly go through it................ I notice your location and although I am in Levin, maybe I can entice you to have a look at my system and you may pick up on something...

It'll run it, but not that well. The x600 is a very, very old card, thus old technology. 4GB RAM is nice, but the P4 kills it. Dual/Quad Cores are the way to go now, its old, slow technology. I was lead to believe the Optiplex systems were office systems, for businesses and things like that? Definitely not designed for gaming, and that must be an old model too.

QUOTE (ScottyB @ Jun 17 2009, 04:00 PM) In my FS9.CFG this is what can be seen.... UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=0 If i change this to say... 30, will i get better FPS? Cheers, SB. I agree with Timmo - this is the same as using the framerate slider. There were many forumn discussions about what to set in FS9 over the years, but the consensus was generally set to unlimited. Firstly try values if you wish, but my experience is if its set to unlimited, you will always get the best framerates you can especially in sparse areas where there are few objects to render. FS9 and FSX do behave...

QUOTE (slopit12 @ Jun 14 2009, 08:28 PM) Returning it is certainly an option I recommend also. However you may find a similar problem occurring eventually anyway. Things like this with working parts that need to be running smooth and will often need a bit of maintenance. It did take a month or so for mine to start running rough. However, I still wouldn't fly a yoke flown aircraft without now! Best of luck! Thanks Guys, Returned it and got a replacement, much better,i see they or someone has lightly lubricated this one.Seems the factory doesnt see the need. Agree Slopit12.i...

Here's the link to the support forum Glacier Bay I use this scenery and it's fantastic. Trolly did a review of it a while back. Check it out. I think it was under the Great Sceneries outside NZ thread.
