Cheers Goff! Unbelievably I had my TARGET_FPS set to 15! Chucked it up to 30, and now my framerate hardly falls below the 20 mark, where as before, it rarly ventured out of the teens! /biggrin.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :D border= 0 alt= biggrin.gif />

QUOTE (hoki1185 @ Jun 14 2009, 07:34 AM) Kids have left home. The mortgage is paid. It's time for a little indulgence. /laugh.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= laugh.gif /> How I envy you! In regards to the video card thing, im not sure about the whole ATI vs nvidia thing. With flight sim, if i remember correctly, its best to stay with intel for CPUs and nvidia for video cards, however i thought this was now fixed with updates and patches. For most other games, they are all very much the muchness. A power supply which is too small can lead to system...

Hmm...very strange, I was going to say when it gets stuck at 59% it would be the photoreal textures loading (dependant on which one you downloaded, full ChCh or just the stand alone airport) but then you mentioned the error message. Not sure what could cause it....I've never experienced it....hopefully someone else can offer some help?

I thought that might be it... I had the same problem when I was first trying to get my multi monitors setup... the tooltips would make everything go all mental... never figured out why... just learned to live without tooltips... to be honest, they take away from the realism anyway /tongue.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :P border= 0 alt= tongue.gif /> Glad to hear you got it sorted /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif />

Thanks for the help guys! My rudder works fine, and my tail wheel is locked (as per the checklist of the aircraft), so I believe the asymmetric thrust will be the one for me. It's just a bit hard to do with a simple joystick (i don't have throttle quadrant) using the "E"+1 or "E"+2 combination, but I'll give it a go, anyway. Thanks again gojozoom

out of those, i would go 2400hd, then 6200. The 2400 is the newest tech, and the fastest, and dx10 compatible, and will play all games (as in, its compatible with the games. Performance will be a little slow). 6200 is also pretty good, but its old technology. The radeon 9800 is the worst out of the bunch. Its about the same speed as the 6200, but is even older technology than the 6200, and may not play some of the new games due to compatibility issues. Long story short, ATI 2400.

yea. i thought it might be good to hear alot of viewpoints before i decided. FSX does run WAY better. but still very laggy in RealNZ WGTN and Marlborough due to my pentium D. i can run AA in default areas though which is very very cool. although slightly off topic... COD4 runs fricken awesomley now too /biggrin.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :D border= 0 alt= biggrin.gif />

What bugs me is that when you make changes to your system, then often reactivation is needed, and not just for FSX. VERY annoying to have to keep reactivating software again and again. AAAGGGGGHHH.. Got that off my chest anyway!! smooth landings

It is generally recommended that you keep away from the default installation locations with Vista, as Vista generally makes it difficult to change cfg files within the default program locations. I have both FS2004 and FSX installed outside the normal Program Files folder system for this reason.

QUOTE (mfraser @ May 12 2009, 08:37 AM) I use the TweakFS registry tool to reinstate FS on a partitioned drive if I have to format and reinstall Windows. Both FS9 and FSX run (At least on my system) after reinstalling Windows, but not without using the Registry Tool first. Free TweakFS tools Thanks for that link /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> - I grabbed all the free apps that I haven't already tried! I think I may just try a new HD with a new Windows7 RC install on it - then install a clean FSX and see how I go! That is, if...

QUOTE (dbcunnz @ May 3 2009, 10:05 AM) I am also using WOAI Traffic and with the DX10 they have no paint so what do you do have DX10 and just the default plus 1 or 2 other aircraft and no WOAI Traffic or chuck out the DX10 and enjoy more realistic flying with a better selection of aircraft and also have WOAI Traffic I know what I am doing they can stick their DX10 until they get it sorted to handle all add-ons and WOAI Traffic. that has been a big sticking point for me too, i love having my traffic arround, but hate the default atc, and radar contact seems to slow the fsx sytem up...
