Since SP2 FSX does use multicore systems much better- So ensure that you have installed that. FSX is much more CPU dependent than other games- It was a future proofing decision by the Aces team as they thought the 'average' simmer would probably have a better CPU than Gfx card (relatively speaking).....im not sure if I agree but ah well haha So yep, upgrading your CPU will have some benefits especially for the items that handled by the CPU (autogen, terrain loading, bloom etc)

Exactly as Mike says..... while I don't use VoiceBuddy I do have VATSIM/Squawkbox installed alongside Aerosofts FDC Live Cockpit. I have two different key assignments on my joystick - one which transmits over VATSIM and the other which 'speaks' to my virtual co-pilot! Mat

make sure you have installed service packs 1 and 2, and with that hardware you'll need to turn down a few settings. Especially water, and autogen, keep them low, that should help. Especially make sure you don't use light bloom effect

Good spotting on the driver issue, just updated my drivers a couple of days ago, and never thought about the affect it would make to NHancer, though when I launched NHancer it gave me the option to restore my settings for FSX (Is all I use it for) and presto my settings are back to how they were before!! This is indeed a great tool for Nvidia card users.

The RNZAF runs a system similar to what you want so perhaps send 'malkymoo' a private message to get the low down? Basically, the faster the better! I would imagine a fast quad core, XP 64 bit, 8GB RAM, Decent MB, 800w powersupply.....and a couple of fast graphics cards in SLI. You may also need a splitter to divide the output of each graphics card...I would imagine that this would only work in multiples of 2 though so you may have to settle for 6 screens (although you could of course use a simple mask to give the appearence of 7 by dividing the 6th into 2) What is this for out of...

the settings are the same as the nvidia ones. Anti aliasing should be 4x, Anisotropic filtering 8x. Leave buffering at stock. These are all accessed in the 3D tab on the catalyst control center

Quite interesting - thanks Nick! Lets remember that in another few years all that connected hardware will eventually be integrated into a single unit........ I can't wait! I'm still waiting to upgrade my existing machines as the price/performance curve isn't quite up there yet. The trampoline bit reminds me of the bad old days some 20yrs ago, when you had to park the HDD heads to prevent damage from the heads resting on the memory portion and subsequently damaging it on startup!

QUOTE (cowpatz @ Mar 8 2009, 01:59 PM) Can anyone recommend a good joystick for traveling? I was looking at the Saitek fold up ST90 but it only has a 4 position throttle. Maybe I could program 2 of the switches to be throttle up and throttle down. I thought about this last year when i was travelling away for work a lot. I couldn't find anything that suited so actually looked at chopping up my spare old USB 1.1 MS Sidewinder and using it. I opened it up and thought there was a lot of wasted plastic which could make it smaller for being portable. Never progressed with the idea...

QUOTE (cowpatz @ Feb 25 2009, 01:24 PM) Hi Mark, Which beta build are you using? I am not that impressed with Vista I have to say. The only thing I really like is the sleep mode. I am looking at installing a Windows 7 beta. What is the best way to do it? Have Vista on one drive and Win7 on the other? On boot up will the system automatically recognise 2 operating systems and ask which one to boot to or do I need something like Boot Magic? (Think I have a copy floating around somewhere when I had Win98/XP dual boot system). How have you got on for drivers.....video, printers etc? Well,...
