Funny you should mention that, I had the same problem when I first put FS9 on this new machine. I couldn't figure out what was wrong, plenty of memory there (8gb total, normally about 7gb free) and FS9 was on its own harddrive...a whole 600gb to its self. A quick google search brought this up, not much of a help though. It just explains why it's doing it. You wouldn't happen to be on Vista would you? Ever since I started running FS9 in compatibility mode and run it as administrator I've only had the error message once.

I run two OS on two different hard drives one HDD I have Win XP Home and run my everyday PC on that and for the other HDD a sata 2 160GB I have Win XP Pro x64 and just my FSX Matrox TripleHead2Go and TrackIR 4. I have a dual core AMD 2.61 GHz and 4GB ram. I have the paging files disabled for both HDDs. When going to Flight Sim I reboot to the Win XP 64 this is not connected to the Internet and so I do not need to have the Anti virus, firewall or anti spyware running programs that all help to slow things down. I find that this does give me far better frame rate that I get if I run FSX in the...

I think you'll find the extra sounds like the 'minimums' etc. are all 'programmed' into the add-on aircraft... ie. there will be some sort of trigger setup that will cause the appropriate sound to play... as the default aircraft are unlikely to have these triggers, I would suspect that you will find you will be unable to add the sounds to default (or any other) aircraft...

Your new monitor should have a 'native resolution' -- here are some of the common native resolutions found in LCD monitors: * 14-15": 1024x768 (XGA) * 17-19": 1280x1024 (SXGA) * 20"+: 1600x1200 (UXGA) * 17" (Widescreen): 1280x800 * 19" (Widescreen): 1440x900 * 22" (Widescreen): 1680x1050 * 23" (Widescreen): 2048x1152 * 24" (Widescreen): 1920x1200 * 30" (Widescreen): 2560x1600 You will get a better image if you use the native resolution. Plus, anything other that a 'widescreen' resolution means that a 'normal' image needs to...

QUOTE (Peppermint @ Dec 24 2008, 04:26 PM) I think you'd have trouble finding a good computer on trademe for under $700. You'd get a better deal if you went to a computer shop and asked them to build one for near enough to your budget as they can. I see you're in Christchurch, you might wanna give DragonPC a go. We went into the one near Blenheim road when I got my first PC, they helped me choose parts, then they ordered it and built it. Superb service those people , my local PC shop /thumbup1.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt=...

Well, when I first fired it up after connecting everything, I noticed on the desktop the screen would flicker half of it black...hard to explain, but similar to a badly tuned TV set...instead of the screen rolling up/down half of it would dissapear. It was only doing that for about 30 minutes or so, hasn't happend again. Thought when I'm looking through folders and click on it, the screen will sometime flick black in the background for a second. Tried the driver thing, no difference. That was the main reson I done the reformat, so I could try the drivers off the CD first, to see if...

OK cool, will stick to the DVI cables included with the monitor. I wish it would hurry up and arrive though, they said it would be here yesterday. I cant wait to push back the monitor instead of it being right in my face.

Warranty is another thing thanks Sam, If you buy a brand new CPU don't go overclocking it unless you plan to want more performance or upgrade and if you get someone or know what your doing. In my case I overclocked it as I am planning on buying a Quad Core but for now I overclocked it so I could try and get some more performance without spending much money at all.

Yea, the graphics memory counts for something but it's not everything; you can have all the dedicated graphics memory in the world, but if you have a rubbish chipset then you're still going to have bad performance. /winkyy.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= ;) border= 0 alt= winkyy.gif /> Alex

Happened to me years ago- think I just updated my soundcard driver to fix it and/or disabled/enabled hardware acceleration in my Control Panel > Sounds > Options menu. Also, try googling 'fs2004 atc stuttering sound'.
