Radar, great heads up ...wonderful stuff. I had a couple of flights with Daryl a few years back in the "wings over whales" Islander, really nice guy ... I didn't care about the whales, just wanted the Islander experience.

You could do a CHC-ROT-CHC Marty, the plane turns and burns straight back to Christchurch with a 25 minute stop at Vegas. Some days they have an afternoon return so you could spend a few hours up in the Bay of Plenty if you wanted. Only a few miles short of the Tauranga sector really. Longest sectors I've flown on the -600 are AKL-CHC on empty ferry flights. I find the ATR to be horrifically uncomfortable as well as the noise Surprised to hear that Choppernut! Paxing on the Q's almost requires ear definers. Ask for a seat in row 17 next time- far away from the engines and makes for a quick...

Looks alright to me... :) don't those things breathe through their ears anyway? That post was meant to include a line complimenting the 75yr-old design on being so robust. Mike

Thank you very much for the very rich news. There is always a lot of information about the big aircraft and military aircraft. With the small regional airliners you often have to "dig deeper" and it would not be clever to forgo the experience and material that is available. Thank you now that I have just received my copy and the contract for the test. Now I'm going to go after the original. I'm looking forward to being in New Zealand again.

I knew a couple of Air Force guys that went to the Kaman factory in the early stages of getting the Seasprites. At the time they were developing the K-Max and were having lots of problems with the blades which was hindering test flying progress. Charles Kaman told the engineers to go back to the older wooden blade construction used on the Husky, so the blades have got wooden spars!

At least the crew did not have to snuggle into a window recess which was (a) barely above shoulder height and (b) hardly deep enuff to get an ear into. YBBN - YSSY is just a bus ride, and the best bus ever was a Virgin Embraer 190
