Think of it this way - when you get your first job in GA, assuming it's not instructing, you most probably ain't gonna have a glass panel in front of you. /winkyy.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= ;) border= 0 alt= winkyy.gif />

/ohmy.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :o border= 0 alt= ohmy.gif /> Boeing postpones first flight of 787 again Boeing's newest plane won't fly as soon as the company promised. Boeing announced Tuesday that it will delay the first flight of the 787 Dreamliner because it needs to reinforce areas within the side-of-body section of the aircraft. It will be weeks before Boeing sets a new schedule for the first flight. Scott Carson, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said in a conference call Tuesday morning that the fixes needed for the jet will also likely delay...

I've just flown back from LA overnight on the 747, and kept my seatbelt on almost 12 hours. This could happen to any aircraft. Scary.

QUOTE (twinstarda42 @ Jun 15 2009, 11:55 AM) Hamilton Airport have revamped their website and have added the slogan ' gateway to the central north island' and are promoting Hamilton as the entry point to nz for and with pages promoting most places from hamilton to the hawkes bay , Tauranga, Taupo, Rotorua etc. And I have to admit, they do have a point. There's a lot of promoted tourism in the areas they are pushing (Waitomo, Coromandel, Raglan, Taupo, Tauranga, Rotorua etc), all of which are far closer to them than they are to Palmy. I do think it's a bit weak of them...

QUOTE (deaneb @ Jun 11 2009, 07:21 PM) Cockpit windows on larger aircraft are laminated from layers of glass and plastic (acrylics and poycarbonates). They are heated so that they not only freeze or fog up, but also to maintain their flexibility which makes them able to better absorb impact - e.g birdstrikes, whereby the glass will shatter, but the plastic layers will hold things together. Heating is achieved by passing a an electrical current through a very thin, transparent coating of metal (typically tin oxides or gold) or small near invisible wires in a grid between the...

I purchased fares with them last night & this morning. NZCH-NZWN-NZCH $50 return each so $100. I'm away to Wellington on August 18th-22 because my Cousin is graduating from Police College, so Dad & me are driving from Dunedin - Christchurch (leaving car with friends) flying to Wellington. Then on 22nd August we fly back Wellington-Christchurch (pick-up car) and drive home. Anyone in Wellington wishing to meet, please let me know so I can fit things around my schedule, would be nice to meet a few more of NZFF members. Happy flying!

hi guys, front page mondays BoP Times has story, no doubt more info when CAA finish report. but for now.. ** Pilot did amazing job, low level when it happened and selected best place considering, did amazing job preserving both himself and the aircraft considering the time location etc. was very impressed with minimal apparent damage to both. no injuries, no fire, some damage sure and the landing gear did help I'm sure, certainly could easily have been far worse.

My instructor at the local aero club did the 52 week course there, he said that you'd expect from the 'screening' process that everyone there would be top notch - but there more than enough meat heads at the school for him to question how hard it was to get in. At the end of the day, if you can show that you will pass the exams, and pay your money on time, they have no reason not to accept you.
