That's a good website. One that has always intrigued me is the Tomahawk that went missing in/en-route from the Ardmore training area. Presumably it's in the Hunuas somewhere.

Yea, I hope he is doing well. It's not often the NZ cadet forces get publicity and obviously as in this case, any news is not always good news. I was also supossed to be staffing this very course. Unfortunatly I didn't recieve any information or travel details so I had to flag it away (something I wasn't too keen on doing. but I had no way of getting there /sad.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :( border= 0 alt= sad.gif /> )but to think of how close I was to being anywhere near such a disaster is horrifying. I hope a speedy recovery is in order

Yes, the Pioneer P-40 flew yesterday. /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> Ian - It's normally based in Taupo. They have two of these, which are leased from Valan International Charter company of Moldova. The other one is registered ER-MHZ. There is also a third non-airworthy one on static display outside the company's headquarters in Taupo. Previously they have also operated another Moldovan registered Mi-8, although I can't remember the registration on that one, but it was ER-MH* something. I'm not sure whether the one that crashed in...

I think that the flying I saw all weekend is the best I have seen from a Checkers team for quite a while. Have some shots from the ground as well and boy the guys flew some great lines.

What I would give to sit in a 737 cockpit. I may have been in NGK's cockpit but I'm not too sure.

There was a photo in one of the weekend newspapers this morning. As I understand it, the nosewheel only partly extended so the pilot elected to make a gear-up landing on taxiway Juliet (the old runway 07/25 seal) which went pretty much without incident. No injuries, no major damage.

I do like all these sales. I'm considering booking an overly complicated half Air NZ, half Jetstar itinerary for some joyriding. Just hope nothing goes wrong. None of the travel periods fall on school holidays which is disappointing. Jetconnect won't be closing, only the NZ domestic part. Jetconnect will continue to operate some flights across the Tasman. They're getting newer 737 800s with PTVs and stuff for that. Still hoping to see Rotorua on Jetstar's radar.

The RNZAF have been using 406mhz personal locator beacons for well over 7 years. The change over to 406mhz has been published for along time. If you bought a 121.5mhz beacon recently then thats just stupid. The dealer of the beacon would have known about the change over even if the buyer didnt. Trev

For anyone that has followed the proposed move to Ohakea this comes as no surprise. The date for moving has continually been set back, and the price of modifications to Ohakea continually rise, and has already doubled the original planned budget. If I remember correctly the original date was 2005, then 2008, 2012 and the most recent was around 2014. I believe the runway mentioned is currently not in service, I spent a fair bit of time running a motorcycle skills course on that runway and the surrounding apron. The differences between this area, the other two runways and the main part of the...
