What does cost matter since they are paying you to test it, IMO the most annoying aspect of being a test pilot is the paper work. Those guys have to write a book about the aircrafts performance, its limitations and capabilitys for something like the F22 it would most likely involve a book the size of an encyclopedia considering it involves FBW.

Word from the 747 hostel is that the engines are away being converted so that people will be able to sleep in them. That might be ok, but I am not sure that I would try it with a Cessna engine! smooth landings.

QUOTE (Trev @ Mar 25 2009, 06:20 PM) I believe there was approx 50,000 to 54,000 people attending. More than was expected. That's pretty good going then /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> ... sounds about right. When I was looking for those figures I found that 2007's show was 25,000. I think I'll book my seat on the DC-3 for Ohakea *now*! BTW (FlyingKiwi) "You're only as old as you feel Adam" ... in that case, 150 /sad.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :( border= 0 alt= sad.gif />

Heard about this a while ago. No injuries etc which is good. More about this will be on both TV1 and TV3 tonight. Saw another, closer picture of it really floating on it's side, which I'll see if I can find (that's not it) TVNZ link TV3 link

I think it was only there for ANZ promo reasons- the max rate takeoff it did was neat though. We didn't bother going on board, but I do have a old cockpit photo from when I caught a link flight down to Taupo:

Just got an email from Brendon with links to a couple of videos of PV270. The first is TV3's coverage of the first flight, well done to them for following the project over the years...even if they do use the same old footage of Hawker Typhoons at one point! The second is the take-off and taxi-in of the first flight, here's a high definition version: Can't wait for Classic Fighters!

For the military pilots I suggest the Piddlepack but be careful if you try to use it in F-16s. Next Generation piddlepacks What they did before the piddlepack QUOTE Mother Nature in the Cockpit On the road again, Puresome began to realize that the gallon of coke/coffee/Exedrin he had consumed as breakfast was saying, “Hi! Remember me?†from his nether regions. “No hill for a stepper,†thought Puresome, who gritted his teeth and concentrated on not wobbling around too much. But as that great clock in the sky counted off another 1.0 of flight time, Youthly was fantasizing about...

I didn't know the guy personally but I guess it was him who took me in the plane, I cant remember I just remember going flying in it when I was like 11 and was focused on the flying and the plane rather than the pilot ! Apparently was a top bloke, well respected in the aviation community. My condolences to Family and friends also.
