QUOTE (deaneb @ Dec 11 2008, 07:37 PM) especially if you have good training. I think you hit the nail on the head Deane, in this case it had to be a major part of the incident since there were nine people on board. I don't know how many were on the flight deck but if there was more than two of them it has to be something pretty systemic. There were clearly at least two in the seats. Mind you having seen that I saw a guy accidentially let the hand brake off his ford falcon. He was in the drivers seat and he got out and tried to stop the car from sliding into the waitaki river by...

I believe the DC-8 left early yesterday morning actually, which is a shame. Expect in February to see Iron Maiden's special 757. /thumbup1.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= thumbup1.gif />

OK, don't worry then. It probably wouldn't have been much help anyway as I've got lots of photos from the owner.

We were up by the cafe, listening to my scanner, when we heard the guy in the tower say 'No spitfire display then?', heard the 'Negative' response, then my batteries died (bloody typical thing to happen at an airshow)- was wondering what the story was, but know now it was all because you were gripping that wing so tight that you obviously punctured the wing! /laugh.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= laugh.gif /> Oh well, I guess it was fate though, bearing in mind that she failed to fly at three other advertised shows this year (Whitianga, Wanaka...

This equates to a ride every 3/4 of an hour or so, 24/7. Don't push this too hard, it will probably make Nunner very happy... /cool.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= B-) border= 0 alt= cool.gif />

I think they won't let us sell them because the U.S State department are 'angry' because we LABOUR cancelled the F-16A/B purchase, and also not letting nuclear ships in to our country.. ( Apparently were not pulling our weight in world peacekeeping... not that our Skyhawks could fly all the way to those problem countries without deconstructing them and putting them in our Hercs) However, i'm with Alfashark on this one, it'd be good to fire 'em up, after all they are heavily upgraded... QUOTE (Peppermint @ Dec 2 2008, 02:37 PM) Who cares about the mistake...look at the media there filming. Damn vultures! Give them some privacy! A very 'ivory tower' view old boy! Haven't you, like the rest of us, been following the story here, on the web and on the TV etc? I agree that media intrusion in private grief is vulture like, however, it is the net result of the insatiable appetite the public seems to have. The least they can do is get the damn story accurate.

An update today on stuff.co.nz gives us a bit of an insight to what went on onboard the mentioned flight from Blenhiem to Christchurch back in Feb: Asha Ali Abdille told a police officer she should have killed the pilot of the Air New Zealand aircraft she allegedly hijacked earlier this year. Abdille faces six charges - hijacking, taking an offensive weapon on to an aircraft and four of wounding or injuring with reckless disregard for safety - after an Air National flight from Blenheim to Christchurch in February. Constable Nigel Barton told a depositions hearing today of a conversation with...

It was my understanding though that, in essence, the ozone or lack of it is related to the amount of UV that makes it to the earth’s surface (hence the sun burn and increase in melanoma being experienced) but is not directly responsible for the ‘brightness’ of the sun. Maybe they’re the same thing – brightness is proportionally linked to UV and vice versa.

QUOTE (Adamski @ Nov 22 2008, 09:52 PM) I thought pilots/co-pilots are supposed to do a "walkaround" visual inspection before each flight? Maybe the flaps were up. In that case - shouldn't the visual checking procedure include the extending of flaps/slats/brakes etc?? yes we do but in saying that we don't check full up or down elevator, rudder, aileron (from the walk around) its what the controls say in cockpit controls free and moving its a matter of checks when you in a airline pilot position! it's like when we training in a ifr condition GA we can see ie...

Interesting stuff that. The equitime theory is simple enough to understand, but it's also simple to see how it would be wrong: As in what HCP linked to, the idea is that curved top and flat bottom leads to the pressure and speed difference, thus providing lift (see Bernoulli and the pages HCP linked to). Those pages also bring up the idea of inverted flight, where the curved part of the aerofoil is now on the bottom. Basically, some lift is still generated so the equitime theory is esentially proved wrong. The other 'bullet' theory has some grounding in Newton's laws (equal...
