Yer St Maarten is old news, but pretty cool. I would like to go to St Maarten some day /thumbup1.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= thumbup1.gif /> The Herald is pretty shameful really, one third of what they report isn't true, a third is outdated and the last third is actually opinion wrapped up as fact. /dry.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= <_< border= 0 alt= dry.gif />

Looking good, and another on the way, are these going to be used for the trans-tasman routes? (SYD/MEL) The capacity increase across the tasman is going to be insane, especially with Emirates bringing in an A380 to Auckland next year.

QUOTE (graemer @ Aug 25 2008, 09:39 PM) I thought there was a to need to be able to see a substantial amount of runway at 250ft (ie minimums). At about 1600 today, the tower was unable to see the other side of the runway for about 20mins just before the rain set in. It lifted just as a Qantas flight was about to leave the hold pattern to head back to AKL. They had one shot at getting in as they were down to the last few minutes of fuel (allowing enough to get back to AKL). Turns out it cleared 100ft above minimums for them. What I meant was that the northern end of the rwy- where...

I heard police and ambulance flying down the rd I don't know if they were going there or somewhere else. Was 1.45pm. No emergency services attended so they must have been going somewhere else. QUOTE (Alex @ Aug 20 2008, 06:06 PM) Would depend where you are, and traffic levels. I've been up a couple of times to Rotorua Tower and it seems pretty cruisy, but can definitely get busy there when you get a combination of the 737's coming in, other regional traffic, choppers going all over the place, gliders out at Tikitere etc etc. /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> Once you get into it you just manage it (traffic (and stress)), there are strategies out there for it, you have lots of training to call on. I'm not sure it's...

QUOTE (victor_alpha_charlie @ Aug 20 2008, 07:23 PM) Why ANZ? Why not Indian Airlines? /rolleyes.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= rolleyes.gif /> Virgin Blue/Jetstar/Tiger Airways would fill the gap relatively quickly, but as said before, it won't happen. Yeah so true,Well at least not anytime soon.

Nav is one that you definitely want to pass first time around - it would be horrible to have to re-do it. Same goes for IFR nav if you plan on doing that at some point.
