QUOTE (squirrel350 @ Jun 5 2008, 06:36 PM) Then this afternoon I was tempted to go for my first ever Fixed-Wing Flight that was such a wicked experience doing sharp turns in Alpha 160-A ZK-WCD and actually getting to take-off myself had me d@mn near leaving skiddys on the seat hahahaha yeah I know sounds bad but it was my first time EVER in a plane that small don't know why but I feel a lot safer in choppers as they are what I'm used too. But all in all guys it was a wicked day and + I got my theory books as well Im going to splash out for a couple more lessons in the Alpha...

QUOTE (A185F @ Jun 14 2008, 12:44 PM) haha ever thought why there are so many cheap 2nd had ones around and why they haven't really taken off ??? Because they are hunks of junk. They (as with the twin star) have been nothing but trouble to all who have been operating them (well by comparison). I have been told by a friend up there that the ol "hanger queen" spends more days in maintaince than in the air. Hence (more than likely) why CTC have been trying to find a suitable replacement fleet for a while (rememeber those big orders with alpha...) Then why do they keep...

Well are you basing that assumption on any other 3rd world countries you've actually been too? I've been to a few 3rd world countries in the middle east, europe and Asia incomparison NZ is right up there as quite a high tech nation in fact its a fair bit ahead of alot of countries particularly with things like farming. /santa_cool.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :xmas: border= 0 alt= santa_cool.gif />

Theres some awesome dogfights on there. This has to be one of the best Not all the dogfights end in kills sometimes just getting away without getting shot down is a victory. I don't have sky but I am impressed by some of these stories and some of the manouvers are good for sims like lockon and Falcon. The other thing is now days the tactics have changed with A/A dogfights are now less likely to be as straight forward as out manouvering the other guy with missiles like the python 5,R73 and Aim9X the missiles can be launched off boresight or in the case of the python if he can see you he...

Although on some planes you can't have beacon/strobes on at the same time, it's one or the other ( Dash 8s and Jetstream 41s are a couple)

QUOTE When will Singapore be flying the A380 to Auckland. I have a feeling I may be going on an A380 at least once and quite possibly three times next year There was an article about SQ in Thursday's Herald, where the reporter asked the same question. The answer that was given was that it will never be coming here, only the new 777's with similar interior layouts and IFE systems.

Thanks for that. Its good to be able to thank the RNZAF for there help so far this year. My computer had a meltdown a year or so ago and out of 40,000 photos in my system I saved 99% of them but lost some of the better RNZAF photos I had. Have an extra hard drive now and learnt a hard lesson.
