QUOTE (Florian_S @ May 28 2008, 07:25 AM) Interestingly Irish Air Corps "161" is herself a preserved warbird....or should I say was. This is a photo I took of her as PV202 at Duxford (Spitfire air Show, 16 Spits in the air!!) in 1998 prior to the fatal crash not long after, and then subsequently rebuild as 161

QUOTE (Alfashark @ May 17 2008, 11:46 PM) Wow, it only took 70 odd years for someone to attach a pulse-jet onto a manned aircraft... Think this tech is a bit different from the Pulse jet on the V1.....on those there was a shutter which created the combustion chamber, I think on these the tube is open and uses some aerodynamic wizardry to create a pressure bubble for the compressed fuel/air charge

stick to the correct speed and G loading and any aircraft can be barrel rolled - its really just a continuous climbing turn. I did read a pilot report of an RAF Nimrod being barrel rolled by the flight crew to 'mess with the heads' down the back as they tried to figure out the readings on the radars etc.

The 720 pictured above is the Pratt & Whitney engine test bed if I recall correctly and engines can be taken off and on as required hence all the protusions. Yes the Basler is a turbo prop DC-3

The reason fligths are cancelled is because sure, planes can take off, but pretty soon you start running out of planes able to take off, as none can land.

QUOTE (Charl @ May 15 2008, 08:21 PM) One of our cars has an iPod dock... And I find the one on ours very handy, too :D The Qantas interior is disgusting. I don't think it could be any worse. They had a pic on a news website with the 'designer' of the new interior looking half happy, half stoned.

QUOTE (Daniel @ May 14 2008, 07:23 AM) Nothing is actually happening yet. Will locals trust them if it does return? Palmerston North will be happy but still cautious at the same time. They dont want a repeat of last time. Cheers Daniel Your absolutely right  (and so is greaneyr). Locals will be happy, but cautious and I'm sure the ones who were burnt in the past with OzJet will be especially careful. Does anyone know if OzJet compensated those who were affected when they left? Cheers Anthony

The sound of those beating rotors is actually seductive. I must be a weirdo! Too young for vietnam, but flew in them in the territorials back in the late 80's. As Keith Quin would say...... ohhh ohhhh ohhh
