QUOTE (FlyingKiwi @ Feb 16 2008, 11:28 AM) I love how when something like this happens one of the first things that comes out is "terrorism is not suspected"... Oh really? ..and everybody feels relieved it's "just" an accident... This one is full of very small what-if's. How come ice is an issue on approach, and not at altitude etc etc No fire on impact (!) This could've been a massive aviation disaster. That central tank was running on fumes - as in water vapour maybe? Poisoned petfood...watery jetfuel, China has a massive...

Now that will be why she hasn't been flying over my work recently. I hear and see her everyday out here in Albany. Looks like a bit of repairs are in order judging by the photos. Good to hear noone was hurt.

Only on jet services though... Where's the biggest competition again? This is how it was back in the days when Ansett NZ was reasonably new and only flew the token AA, WN, CH, DN + tourist trap sectors. The service levels on routes also served by Ansett was vastly different from that on routes where ANZ had the monopoly.

QUOTE (Brennanx @ Feb 4 2008, 07:33 PM) So your at airline flying club then? Is that Instructor back the one that went to the Sudan for 6 months? his name was something macintosh? Trevor? Yeah he has been back for a while... with some excellent stories... and some brown trousers required stories! :ph43r: he is actually a big part of the reason why I passed my flight test... Unfortunately, he is dealing with the sudden illness of a family member at present, so has been otherwise engaged as of late... why? are you looking at getting stuck into it? I know that the club has...

Now that name rings a bell from exhaustive rereading of Classic Wings/CWD mags! Wow, cool! But yeah, in light of the Alpha collapse, who knows... Yeah, polished aluminium is really the ONLY way to go with a low-wing Ryan!

QUOTE (victor_alpha_charlie @ Feb 3 2008, 11:35 AM) Oh ok, you probably wouldn't have flown over Afghanistan or Iraq then- it was surreal screaming along at 35,000 feet in total comfort watching Little Britain on my PTV and glancing down at where thousands of people were enduring suffering at that moment. We could see Kandahar in the distance with the occasional flash of light- I looked on the news page and it said fighting had erupted in Kandahar not long before. That sent a chill down my spine.. Oh and then the thunderstorms over India! Made you feel so small and...
