As dramatic as it sounds, this is actually an unfortunate case of mis-translation. He was riding in the wing of the aircraft (more specifically, in the undercarriage bay as the article goes on to mention) but the opening few lines make it sound like he was riding on the wing of the plane which would be quite an impressive achievement indeed! /tongue.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :P border= 0 alt= tongue.gif />

lol was funny because they made some lame a$$ exscuse as to why they grounded there flights saying it was due to the eruption of Ruapehu even though they had released the report on the landing gear problems. SQ350

untechnically, Ruapheu just burbed, the boffins are not sure if there will be any more or not, they said in todays paper that they classed it as an out of the blue eruption, i.e. no warning signs.
