anyone else watch that show? I caught the tail end where they decided that his decision to take a short cut acros the water effectively killed him. Very emotive, but IMHO, somewhat misleading. The fact he was flying with a naff leg, was (relatively) inexperienced, tired + stressed etc probably also had a lot to do with the end result. I am somewhat surprised that it appears he never attempted to make any radio calls for help. Maybe the typical male attribute of refusing to ask for directions. They did mention all the other factors - he was late, in experienced, bad leg etc etc, as all...

Just found this on the net: "Staff at Weibel Scientific, the Danish radar manufacturing company, have proved they have a sense of humour as well as scientific brains. After making a low pass at Bader Field, Atlantic City, runway 29, the pilot of the company Citation CJ2 (registration OY-JET) returned for touch down, but landed by mistake on runway 11. The aircraft overshot the runway and ended up badly damaged in the Intercoastal Waterway. The plane's four occupants were unhurt but had to be rescued by boat. When the aircraft was re-registered, it can only be presumed the person...

Auckland or Wellington would be the common sense locations simply because these places are easy to get to. Someone with a sense of humour, a rare thing after spending hours stuck in traffic! :) Mailman

i think it was pretty clear early on it wasn't terrorism. i was watching it on CNN yesterday morning, they were more interested in how/why it happened, how many were killed etc. they initially said it was Lidle that crashed, but after the press conference said they hadn't contacted the victim's family, they removed his name. and then people were emailing the show, demanding that small aircraft not fly near/over buildings and wanted tighted controls! evidently the aircraft was fitted with one of those parachutes- was probably too low to use it tho.

actually my dad flew with royal brunei once, and apparantly it wasn't far off that- gold taps in the toilet, plush seats. a good airline if you can survive the flight without alcohol and don't mind a pre-takeoff prayer.

Great video there Robin- I don't get what that thing is you where videoing at the very beginning and end though. It looked like an army jeep or something outside the helicopter, but when you moved the viewpoint you went into the cockpit, then at the end when you landed it was there again... got an outside shot of the craft you where in?

Howdy, Yep; the new terminal design is really, really, impressive. Here's hoping it will help re-vitalise interest in the aerodrome (and locale).

Hey yeah, I'd forgotten about those ex-Ethiopian and -Ozzie Sabres.............great point guys! Fingers crossed - to be honest I'd much prefer to see such a real classic as the F-86 than the L-29. If anyone knows about a Sabre close to flying from either Pioneer or AVspecs then please let me know.

I used to be an officer in a Bushfire Force and the BK117 were a nightmare to work with, they had way too much down wash and would flare the fire up all the time not to mention they were bloody aweful to try and fill the monsoon with.
