there's just something about the A380 i don't trust. must be the same thing as people thought about when the 747 was first built. brave passengers to take flight IMO. mind you, the passengers help build the A380, so it must be a sense of pride for them

Dunno, guess it is what was free. RLK might stand for regional link or something  FYI, LNK is the code for South African Airlink :)

I'm surprised that they are actually allowed out of the pit due to the terrorist threat. Should be locked in there using piddlepacks lol.

Very sad & preventable accident indeed. You would have to think to yourself, if they weren't sure they were on the correct runway, why not confirm with atc? Their HDG indicator should have told them they were in fact on the wrong runway. But we weren't there, until you're in the same situation you can't really comment at all. Sympathy goes out to the families involved, and I hope the First Officer pulls through so he can shed some new light on the events that led up to this terrible tragedy.

It now serves as a training aircraft for mechanics and technicians alongside 5 Devons, 4 Strikemasters, one Sioux and a partially complete Iroquois. Not many people know those all hide in that hangar !!! At one time that Sioux was known as the 300 amp fuse, after a start up attempt!

I think I would rather stay on the ground than go flying with a Russian airline Even if this was caused by lightning the Russians always seem to be unlucky when it comes to air accidents. yeah, nothing against russians or anything. they just can't seem to make flying safe. fire on board is no good

This topic heavily disappoints me. I thought the government were bringing jets back to the RNZAF!

They tried this in Alaska, too. GPS systems (and more) in every aircraft. Sadly, most couldn't afford it, and the FAA didn't enforce it, and so we end up with the same situation we were in before. Oh, well. One more week, and we're in NZ!

They flew through freezing rain, apparently. Not much you can do if the aircraft systems aren't up to it. Postpone the flight until the weather clears is the better option.

they should be focussing on getting the A380 out on time rather than producing a plane which is so far behind the 787. The pilot of the DC-3 I recently flew with told me he hopes the A380 never comes to NZ. Apparently it broke a wing during testing recently, and won't be in NZ for many years yet. Imagine the scenario at LAX when say, two A380's have landed together. It would take about 3 hours to get through customs <_< Despite all this, I will be at the NZAA lookout when it does happen to touch down here. Lots of airlines who have ordered the 380 such as Qantas, Emirates and...
