Embraer are putting in the KC390, too. I think the government is set on the C17 though. The Embraer is in the almost class as a CN235 and C27, little to light , I am all for the C17, maybe two off them and three late model C-130s, that would give a superb tactical arrangement, I very much doubt the lighter load types would be put into consideration since the Gov likes to play the I am hero status for human savour ... they do play on that well.

The 1900s are been phased out and Eagle Air will be no more. 3 airports will loose their Air NZ service including Westport, Kaitaia and Whakatane. Other provincial towns will loose some other routes like Taupo to Wellington. The 1900s were uneconomical to operate and there no practical replacement available. Most of the 1900 routes will be replaced by q300s whilst some the q300s will be replaced by ATRs. As a result Air NZ have ordered 4 more ATRs. The route abandoned have been picked up by Air Chathams (Whakatane - Metros and CV 580s (!)). Kaitaia by Great Barrier Airline ( Caravan) and...

It is amazing how low hour the B-52s are - I'd probably say these 1960 hulls have not reached the 10,000, ... most commercial pilots have a little hallmark reaching the 10,000 hour mark , one thing with the SKYHAWK making them extra special and seriously durable was the one slab wing ... a modellers plastic kit-set is a good example of the engineering design , as time progressed the removal of the hump , the aircraft was well known for being very economical at ALT . B52s would have clocked up a lot of hours due to the long range missions particularly during the cold war where they had to fly...

QUOTE (Charl @ Jan 15 2015,3:40 PM) Per capita, we have the highest number of... anything, you name it: helicopters, bad drivers, politicians... /laugh.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= laugh.gif /> Thats true Charl , for somewhere thats really nowhere , we are really out there. Btw , Im a long standing supporter of the Westpac chopper , St Johns and the stroke foundation , used to be more , but it all got a bit much so i cut back to just three.

There are things I don't like about Robinsons but at the end of the day, I have over 1000 hours in them with only two mag failures in that time and of course, that's an engine issue not an airframe issue. Frank changed the industry.
