QUOTE (J7G @ Aug 28 2013,5:07 PM) The media already have scanner banks running, if anyone is going to misrepresent a situation will it be: A. The guy listening in on a steam or B. The guy who has the job of misrepresenting situations and already has access to the broadcasts anyway? I know where you are coming from but these days with social media it is probably more likely to be 'Johnny' at home with a scanner who then texts, Tweats or posts on facebook what he heard. I am not sure how the media use the information they glean from listening in but I would suggest that it is a...

QUOTE (deaneb @ Aug 18 2013,2:17 PM) A 727 can easily operate in and out of Woodbourne, but cannot carry a big enough combo of fuel/people/cargo to make it useful, hence why the RNZAF never operated them in and out of NZWB. The two aircraft which have landed were both one way trips at the end of their useful lifes. I was there to welcome the second one and when it landed it easily pulled up in 2/3 of the runway length. They never flew them there for Air shows and they never took them off from there from what I recall some people believed at the time the runway was to short.

Chatting the other day about the "Flying Tigers" , funny this chap went off the path , yes they were aggressive and there skill in the skies have become legend due to the fact the were mercenaries or hired guns , lack of military discipline and more a whiskey bottle on the hip , it was the Chinese blokes who gave them the name "Tigers" with chasing the pretty Chinese girls around - one of the most famous after the disbandment went back to the Marines was Gregory"Pappy"Boyington ... this is were the famous Black Sheep squadron came about .

QUOTE (Charl @ Jul 23 2013,7:39 PM) Yes I saw that letter, now in our connected world the question is being asked: who's flying my plane today? Hard case....and if the enquirer ever got the information how would he/she ever be able to decipher and evaluate it all? 43 hours on the 777 is quite a few in training terms. Probably halfway thru the training cycle. There will always be a first landing with passengers on board and these days that is the first time you hop in the aircraft for real. All the circuits and other aircraft handling is conducted in the simulator.

never said it was batteries at fault, seen that some people reckon that a coffee boiler was left on and boiled dry, thermal cut out failed, and it caught fire, again will be interesting to see what the report says. on other 787 news the Thompson 787 returned due to all but two toilets not working, some have suggested an electrical issue, are the toilets electrically powered on the 787? see here Boeing do seem to have a few electrical issues on the electric jet, i guess to be expected.
