Toowoomba Airport today is hemmed in by suburban development, and there is no room to expand. I used to work very close to it, and when I turned a particular corner I always thought - They've used a MS default flatten! It is good for GA training and RFDS, and of course the Zuccoli Museum, but it is just too small in area to be considered a serious domestic or international airport. Where I live, Tmba is about 40 mins drive, and Wellcamp which lies further west would be another 20 or so. It is closer in than Oakey. Tmba is a big place and it takes about 15 mins to get from one side to...

QUOTE (toprob @ Oct 8 2014,10:11 AM) I'm glad I don't fall for these 'nostalgia-fests', chasing my youth on Youtube, otherwise I'd never get to start work until after 10.... dammit.... Hmm , after the ride couple days back to the airport .. I was thinking youth , went out for a ride yesterday .. and Ooo Bugger the rear tire was flat .. took it to the local bike shop , I said I rode out to the airport and told told em it bloody near killed me only for them to find a long - almost 30mm stud had gone thru the tire and tube .. Youth may have got me home sure as hell...

QUOTE (Charl @ Oct 7 2014,5:33 PM) Quite interesting to poke around, it's quite a tight fit, really. This is one thing I wish I had .. a dang good camera but back in the mid 1980s they had not been invented them yet , .. It really is fun crawling through these bits and pieces.

Very interesting reading , thank you Charl . CP , when you wrote " It is the old executive argument is training a cost or an investment " it took back a few years , when i was briefly involved on both sides of that argument . Working for a tour coach company about to do a major fleet upgrade . I spent weeks learning the new vehicle , writing a manual , and a training syllabus .... anyway , there was a change of power at the top , and my work was seen as costly and now unnecessary. To make a long story short , they employed more staff to use the new vehicles ..... training consisted...

QUOTE (Charl @ Oct 6 2014,3:43 PM) The scale of things in Dubai is breathtaking, even the temperature: 43 deg C on the day, like inhaling a blowtorch. Was mention of extreme temps just recent, your comment "like inhaling a blowtorch" is exactly how they put Death Valley, maximum time in the open was twenty minutes, the also recent posting Pima Aircraft Museum and times out in the open , stepping into an oven.

Shite of a time at the moment ...... i try not to think about it to much ... hence some of my odd posts (sorry), but everytime i visit the olds ( and thats everyday x 2) i see the old man slipping away . Took him for a haircut today , he looks good , but he's 100% stuffed after a 1 hour outing ..... will be fast asleep now .... It really makes me mad , he did so much , gave so much .... i know he's only 81 .... but to end it like this . Anyway , what a night (evening) no wind , 18c , amazing clouds , the birds are happy with their cooked rice and peas (dont ask ) Not sure where this...

QUOTE (Naki @ Oct 1 2014,8:39 PM) Hmmm and we don't have squat Still recall the quote and call famous , by Graham Bethel "New Zealand have become the scabs of the Pacific" this was point at the decision when RNZAF strike wing was deleted , I talk to a lot of RNZAF peoples and they are also still heated up over the entire ridiculous debacle, it was a bloody insult as well.
