QUOTE (Efliernz @ Jul 25 2011,2:37 PM) "Christchurch has snow, it’s the icing on the quake" Pete , you could say that , rather have the cake without the icing , weather here will really put a damper on any fix ups here and course the cold kills .

Great link, thanks. I think they are fibbing about what's inside Global Hawk, though.

QUOTE (Charl @ Jul 24 2011,1:08 PM) shot down by a bunch of fellers perched on the rocks with long magazines shoved into their AK-47's... Sorta reminds me , the beginning off the movie 'Air America' a villager with his rifle 'BANG' and shoots the C-123 down /laugh.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= laugh.gif />

Having done security work for 22 years I feel sorry for the poor Noise Control guys that went to the initial call out. Cops come in at least pairs, normally more if it's a big party. Poor security guy is on his own serving the original abatement notice. I've done a few "noisies" over the years and being in a student city I can honestly say gang parties are easier to deal with than drunk student parties. As you guys have pointed out. It's our booze culture. Lots of public events are the same. Look how many people try to smuggle booze into alcohol free sports events etc....

Na-val Avy-atorrs...not pilots. Those guys have the Right Stuff. That sit up and beg is actually quite a low-g manoeuvre as the airspeed is way down, maybe 150kts. High-g isn't as exciting for the spectator as it tends to be high speed too, and moves out of frame too quickly.

Many years ago when they had binoculars on the viewing deck at Christchurch airport i spotted a 747 form vapour halo's cross the wing , it was a very humid day , should try it my home set , but also amazing the hear the air slap after going across the top of you on 20 in a wet southerly .

QUOTE (deeknow @ Jul 18 2011,10:52 PM) Took my 2yr old daughter shopping on the weekend, went to the toy shop, she actually chose an aircraft (Matchbox Catalina, Purple of course) but when she got it home the first thing she did was sit in in her plastic bus and take it for a drive... Mmmmm.. maybe not the aviatrix I had imagined her being /laugh.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= laugh.gif /> Good Things take time /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif />

QUOTE (Alfashark @ Jul 15 2011,12:17 PM) 20kg of turbine vs 35-40kg for the normal 2-stroke setup... And yes, 50-60:1. Once you've finished your climb, kill the fuel supply and retract it back into the fuse. When you bear in mind that the average high performance glider can hold up to 200l of water ballast, that 20kg of scrap iron is effectively just 10% ballast that can't be dumped /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> Oooh, so 20kg of jet engine and 180 litres of jet fuel maybe ? That's my kind of glider ! /cool.gif style=...

QUOTE (cowpatz @ Jul 14 2011,6:01 PM) Not something that you would cruise down to Countdown to get the groceries in is it? A bit of carpark rash could be potentially fatal. He he imagine the look on the testing officer's face after rolling up to sit your restricted license in it!!! Priceless! Yes you'd be able to fly it, before being allowed to drive it! WOnder how it performs? Traditionally, carplanes are twice as bad as road cars, and half as good as light GA.

Strangely no one was prepared in 1939 , arrr that but that was because the big one to end the biggies 21 year earlier them whamo , Now NZ has depleted its strike capable force as with most the world declining , good way to save money , but what happens if it gos FUBAR! .. and possible threat ? I guess the only saving grace is no one can afford one. They really could not pay back then and really still in a way paying for it ,
