The steerable chute thing is an interesting concept. Back when Gemini was on the drawing board, there was an idea to have it deploy a hang glider type wing once in the atmosphere so the astronauts could actually fly it to a landing. The concept had enough merit that they built one...

You could always sign on as top gunner crewman aboard a B-17, they've done that too! I am thinking you would need a reliable buddy playing spotter on the flightline, FPV might lose situational awareness quite easily. But it is an interesting thing; there is something freakish about doing a flyby, turning to look out over the wing... and seeing yourself standing there!

If you watch this video it is a different aircraft from the one here on Earth. It has a very good FLY BY WIRE and turns very tight. Although the fake news talks of a War it looks fake all of it. So this aircraft is on another Planet and has a better Control System than the AN225s that are on Earth. You'll notice other differences compared to the one on Earth. The place where this was filmed is called "THE JOCKS PLAYGROUND." Someday soon the AN225's on Earth will have the same FBW as the one in this video. There is more to the story about PLANET THE JOCKS PLAYGROUND, it is a Planet...

 nice shots gents ....Mike I hope to get this loaded up tonight. Are you enjoying it ? It's fun, but there's a bit of learning involved. My old brain is getting closer to its use-by every day. I strongly recommend printing this pdf and keeping it handy: Make sure you install DX9 as I mentioned earlier - the game won't start if you don't. At the moment I have three pilots set up, British, French and German. That's the quickest way to change to a different plane and/or move to a different era.For example, I couldn't get the Nieuport 24 until I set a new pilot in 1917. It gave me a 23 to...

Yeah, I couldn't ride like that any more, and I know I would want to, and probably try to, with inevitable consequences. One of the reasons I'm not getting another bike (and returning to flying). No, I never got a bee in my helmet - I hit a Pukeko at 165kh/hr once - luckily hit the fairing slider and not my leg; made a big mess I can tell you! My little 600 could make 275Ks on the back straight at Pukekohe and other than a dynojet kit and Arrow exhaust, was generally 'road trim'. I did fall off a couple of times, to be fair. Ironically, ... you'll like this ... I highsided my GSX-R600 on the...

Thanks for the replies gents, and the link Charl. CP, it's the same as the big bang ...what went bang, and where did it come from. I won't follow this up here, as it could wander into sticky territory, but it's good brain food ...frustrating but good.

Mike, I suspect he got lucky - LF hearing loss is extremely rare and is generally seen as a hereditary issue. Charl, I didn't know that (nearly said I hadn't heard it  ) but our factory had plenty of deep rumblings that could be felt more than heard, and not much screechy stuff. Bob was indeed lucky, he would have got nothing out of the Navy. Personally, I have some high-end loss, but in my Overhead Crane Driving days I always had earmuffs on, becos I had a little pocket radio which would pick up ABC Classic_FM, with some little 'phones which fitted comfortably in the earmuffs; I could...

Would a dedicated ANZ freight service work in this current global climate? "INTERESTING" question :) We've often debated this at home here and over a few (too many) Friday night "drinky-pooh's" up here in AKL ;) It probably could work "in the current climate" .... but traditionally .... and beyond the capacity common underfloor type freight AIR NEW ZEALAND's never been keen to get involved with "dedicated/pure air freight type operations". We did, during the 1980's, have a single pure air freighter. Our DC-8-52 ZK-NZD was retired from service during...

I saw that news item, and I did think it was very poor. Giving the percentages of hospitalisations doesn't really serve any purpose, unless it also factors in the percentage of those vaccinated overall. So if the percentage of those still unvaccinated is 10% then the large chunk of hospitalisations should be quite scary to the unvaccinated. Overall the media's bias towards supporting vaccinations is ok to me, they just should take a bit more care to present things clearly.
