I haven't seen it in the Warehouse, but GP Store does a good deal: my brother got asked for ID when he bought the Sims add-on pack... despite the fact that any age can buy M labeled software. It's only R rated software that kiddies can't have.

Only place I have ever seen it is at Auckland Airport where there is a WH Smith Not anymore, that got changed to a Whitcolles years ago! The airport shop I think you are referring to does have a lot of aviation mags not found in other shops though, such as Airliner World :P I havn't seen PC Pilot for sale in any NZ shops though :( It was called whitcoulls then they changed it to WHsmith so looks like they changed it back again :P yea it was about 18 months or so ago I last flew out of Auckland international.

Speaking of modding joysticks you can get some good mods for the Thrustmaster Cougar. I was checking out the throttle arm mod which looks as though it gives the pilot much larger range in throttle movement. Pretty good for Formation flying, another mod you can get is the modification of the stick to make it rely on pressure like the real F-16 instead of being a typical joystick with movement.

Such a sim can be built cheaper as a hobby, you don't need to use original parts for a pit which is probably why that sim is so expensive. What type of aircraft are you wanting to make your sim for and how much space do you have? The best place to start is the controller then look at building Flaps/Gear levers etc and use a multi-controller to support it. Have a look here: With a bit of kiwi inginuity even a moving cockpit is possible. ;)

Wow some of them are just about not a toy any more, more like UAV's! I never liked RC models, too fast, too twitchy, too many manhours, too easy to demolish all that effort. But you had to admire them, and of course, the hardest cases of all: the RC helo nutters :D
