Some links to GRRC which may be of interest./ Indeed... thanks for the links Mike, great read. Wonder what the future holds for Brendon Hartley? Maybe not F1, but a smart driver would surely stay in touch with Formula E?

Glad you enjoyed it, Marty. I subscribed to the GRRC a few years back and I don't regret it. Early in the pandemic they set up their own YT Channel, which was great until YT wrecked it with their bl**dy adverts. As a member, I can see a lot of exclusive stuff. Must get over there one day, to see and hear those machines and smell the Castrol R. As you saw, they do race, not just demo runs. David Coulthard's comments after being allowed to race about 16 million quid's worth of Mercedes 300SLR were fascinating. :D

Cheers, guys. Speaking of supermarkets, here in Silverstream we have New World, which is only 1.5kms away, much of it through native bush. It is amazing hearing the tūī and having the pīwakawaka flitting about my head. I don't remember ever seeing a tūī in Timaru, but here they are plentiful, and hard to miss because of their call.

Your right there Mike. The Connies were nice , but for me, the DC-7 was the peak of piston engine passenger aircraft. Interesting to note that Douglas planned a DC-8 (piston-engined) about 10 years before the jet version arrived ....... ), but it wasn't a goer, and maybe that's a good thing. Mike the trip that those shots are taken from is just made for us. Start off in Florida, fly on the old lady to Puerto Rico, have a 3-hour break, and then on to St Marteen ...enjoy the spotting and the nightlife, and reverse the trip the following day.

... and Facebook promised that its privacy policy would remain the same. Too late FB I am owned by Google! VR, as happened with DVD's, will probably be driven by the porn industry. Oculus would have difficulty in erm, keeping up. EDIT: I went looking, and maybe the upcoming Pimax will answer part of the question.

Yeh, and Enzo didn't go to lunch in a chopper, and so on. I saw it with people who don't acknowledge motor racing as such, and they enjoyed it. The movie could so easily have been another Hollywood pastiche, but it actually avoided all the obvious traps. I also cut it some slack because they showed enough of that Ferrari, being the most beautiful 4-wheeled device ever created. B-)

Feathered friends... Marty that looks like a juvenile, bit late in the season? Magpies, Paul? Over here we shoot them on sight. The splash of deep black and brilliant white feathers is unmistakable in the garden! Magpies are masters of squatting in other birds nests, and getting their owners to take over their eggs for them!... ...! They are wonderfully proportioned birds, with their fat tummies, and long tail feathers! My neighbour's pesky Cats are always my biggest worries when the birds are around!.... ...! The fat Wood Pidgeons cant get off the ground fast enough! I love...

"THANKS" Marty :) I've done a few of these. This particular one I've published (and previously elsewhere too), but, there's others I haven't .... yet. And then there's still others, for the COMET 1/!A, I still want to undertake .... and similarly present. Just a matter of "TIME" ;) Mark C AKL/NZ

OK I did that forum thing where you read the first line and assume you know what is being discussed  Good to know the MIL isn't a closet ace photographer... My picture is what the phone reconstructed after I ended up almost flat on the ice cold deck trying not to breathe. It's why telescopes have that side eyepiece thingy. I see they come with tracking abilities now too. Maybe next blood supermoon I will, ah... wait a minute

A humble, humorous and articulate man. I loved his book "Carrying the Fire". Its one of the best descriptions of spaceflight, covering his early flying, then Gemini and Apollo missions. RIP Mike Collins, gone but never forgotten.

This image says it all... I spent more than a moment reflecting on what it means. We are so splendidly insulated in NZ from the terrible cold winds blowing in the world. Elizabeth II is a class act, and her relationship with HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, a model of Royal forbearance. She has balanced so carefully what should be a complete anachronism, with the changing demands of a fast-changing world. Wills and Kate totally Get It, which must be some consolation to the Queen. Well said Charl, that photo will go down in history. Sadly I thought I had recorded the whole thing.... but it appears I...

Cheers Big Guy .....they turn out some great stuff, but now and then they slip a bit ...says me  I downloaded their latest from Hong Kong and was a bit disappointed... a great selection of carriers, but, just messy somehow. I have a few DVD's, but mainly I buy them and view them on their Fluxplayer. With the older stuff, they allow one DVD burn, but not with the new stuff. Will catch up with thee deeknow.
