Rocky Shots are from FSX using my "home made" FS Earth scenery. (FSET) They are limited by my relatively cheap graphics card however. I think that this scenery would be also usable in P3D and I know Aerofly do use the same source data it with a different converter.

All teardrops and VOR holds then... good fun. I'm kind of glad that I don't have to learn about NDBs. Cessna 140s are a bit of a cult aeroplane now I see. I'm a bit of a fan. NDB's are where the needle points - you can get there by homing or tracking. Terrain often requires tracking. In Alaska they still had four course low frequency ranges when I took my instrument ride and the FAA guy said how about a range approach, audio only. Surprisingly easy since I was already inbound. Teardrops are whatever it takes to get inbound on course - likewise holding patterns are a check ride nightmare ( how...

Your right Nick, I'm reading(among other things) a book by Peter Caygill "Javelin from the cockpit" to be followed by "Meteor from the cockpit". I'm only into the first chapter, but having skimmed ahead a little, there are some interesting comments on handling etc.

Very nice indeed... I did see Rex advertising some or other weather thing already, though! Yes ... I saw that too. It won't be touching textures or shaders - only weather generation, I think.

Rob, remember that little thing you hired ..oh ..ages ago now ...the time you picked me up and we spent a day tramping around NZCH avoiding security and taking photos of everything. That was an awful thing (the car) ...and it didnt like you much. :ph43r: That was a great day.

Enjoying this bird - V5 still better than the new sim for now in my mind For the heavier tin it certainly seems that way at this point in time. MSFS looks fantastic for slow and low.

Great shots. Looking forward to seeing how this all goes in VR. I stick to Aerofly for VR, I just can't quite get the other sims to the frames I need. But shots like these make me go mmm. Incidentally I am an old Birkdale lad too. Living in Tokyo these days, spend more time mucking around making scenery than flying.

Sorry "Not sure what you mean one turn required." they pass directly over head, fly on for about a Km or 2 and then make a slight turn to line up. Its the same with 029, but they approach from a slightly different angle. "Wondering if Toprob created the same house as yours in his NZCH scenery" ...very possible, I will check.

So good... the water nails it for me. Ehh Adam how'd you manage to get WEST of Mt. Taranaki, going up?? Ah, OK... B-) I must admit they did a fine job on the water. It animates beautifully too. That's Tongariro BTW

I think I will stick with FSX Wellington should look like this.... Actually my version of FS2004 does it better than that, by a country mile  Seriously though, this time the new thing will be worthwhile. A million+ users say so, and I love hearing the chatter from those waiting to tweak it. Can't wait, although I am waiting...

Thanks for those. Wow, the clouds are a big step forward for Prepar3d, although mine don't look like that. Any hints? And before anyone asks, the v5 installer should be available within a few days. No worries rob, yeah they certainly are nothing special in those pics not even using live weather, I can share my settings if you like?

Nah ... it's my own personal "Flying Fox" link to Pak 'n' Slave in Henderson! I do a "click and collect" and they just clip it onto the cable and give it a push!

I think that P3D really is a dead duck now ... and I'm not surprised your sales for that platform have all but disappeared. I wouldn't be too hasty. There is no doubt that MSFS is great for low and slow but it is yet to get off the ground with heavy tin and for that reason I'll stick with P3D for a while yet. Once MSFS matures I will make the leap. My other concern is just the shear amount of data that is needed. I only have a 30 mbs connection (which make or may not cope) and that may severely limit others in the household wanting to watch the likes of Netflix or listen to Spotify.
