Talking about olden Times...and the year "2006".... Anyone remember the flight sim forum; "Simviation"... started by Pete Daly ? I jonined it in 2006, and have been a Member there ever since, popping in every day! It was the Lads in Simviation that dragged me kicking anf screaming into FSNZ in 2010, when a tour of the Australia and New Zealand Coast was organized, and took place, in Multiplayer... on line! The one thing that has always got me permanantlty attached to FSNZ is the "Chat" forum, where i can have fun with evey day! ...and dont forget the Motorcycle...

Time for some new candidates (please)! Otherwise the stand-in by yours truly gets used ... and we don't want that, do we?

When these aircraft first flew, their current pilots weren't even born yet... or even "in the planning stages"...

That my grandparents definitely didn't like them... is obvious, I think. It was often enough the mosquitoes that drove them into the air-raid shelter from 1944 onwards. I appreciate them as a technical icon, a high-performance aircraft made of wood, for which the German Luftwaffe had no solution until the Me 262, and then it was irrelevant that the Me 262 existed... 1945.

It was pretty obvious to me right away what went wrong – yes, I messed that one up. No point arguing about it. Been "flying" in sims since 1990 in FS4 and still putting in around 200 hours a year, but that doesn’t make you immune to mistakes. The good thing about the sim is: you get to learn from it. In the real world, you don’t always get that chance.

I don't regret switching to smaller aircraft and leaving the airliners to others. ... although one might wish for a really good, but not overly feature-laden, Boeing 757-200 like the ones from Qualitywings from MSFS 2004 to P3D. But in the meantime, the new analog Caravan fulfills my wishes, haha.

I try to accurately reflect the local situation based on what can be read in public sources, and I am pleased when that is well received.

I was very interested in X-plane way back when it was a Laminar Flow simulation, but there was essentially purely nominal scenery, and not much of it. In any case, I am committed to AFS and Linux, but I see XP12 can also run in Linux. Why do these things always happen when my birthday is coming up?

:hesaid: Marty I was going to yank your chain, about how I prefer "my" microlight Icon 5 as it can sit on water. Then I realised it was not a fair comparison: what would I want with 5 Fox Bats  :)

Thanks, that’s funny—the little mishap in the first picture. The engine’s running… but the pilot isn’t there. I didn’t notice it until after it was uploaded… but that’s just part of our hobby…

Such places of remembrance for aviation are a gift. - Wanaka has been virtually visited again and again since Flight Simulator 2004...
