Not sure mate, thanks for looking. In 1983 they got some 747s with modified RB-211s giving better fuel economy. Prior to that, the "non-stop" to London paused at Bahrein for fuel, which is probly where the 'topping up at the end of the runway' story came from.

Great shots JK . I wonder what it was like to fly such a large aircraft as a single pilot...and fight at the same time.

Stock weather - it's not very specific around here, to be honest. But it could hardly miss this:

Thanks. It was a gray and overcast day, as is usual here in autumn. I like the replica. The typical Soviet like the Cyrillic lettering of the instruments, the artificial horizon "wrong way up" - you get all of that with this replica.

Charl, Once more. Cool that it appears to work anywhere in the world. I'm going to find my local EMS heli and fly a few missions! I've replied three times and none of them have shown up.

...any good? Nothing jumped out at me, haven't spent too much time with it yet. I believe the Naval Museum has one tucked away, wonder if one could get a look inside?

Thanks for looking team. Yes its X-Plane 12, I've been neglecting everything else lately. Not as good looking as the MS offering regarding scenery, but some of the aircraft models are right up there. The two 747's in particular, Felis 200 and the SSG 8i and F. Soon I'm going to be on the Flight Factor Boeing 777-300ER learning curve....I like to keep the brain working...even if I don't really need to know :)

Thanks guys...the rego is a dynamic rego on default paint ..you simply type in what you want. I have never flown the tailwheel version on the RV-14,until now as I didn't like the tailwheel handling in MSFS ...but this is really good...maybe too easy? It has a display smoke option but it isn't working for me...comes out with weird lines...will need to work out to fix this.

SP ..interesting story...very similar aircraft but with different powerplants...the 421C was with the RNZAF and it had more powerful geared 375hp engines...this is a 414 with some tweaks including winglets. There has only been one or two 414s in NZ.. 421 was more popular here and I belive there is at least one still flying in NZ. Both aircraft are pressurized.

"Atlas said it is the world’s largest operator of 747Fs, with a fleet that includes 65 aircraft, consisting of 17 747-8Fs, 39 747-400Fs, five passenger 747-400s, and four Large Cargo Freighters (LCFs)."* whoa whoa whoa that is INTERESTING and educational fact. I always knew that I would learn A LOT about aviation facts from NZFF forums. Regards, Aharon

When you consider the extra weight on the forward section, the long gondola, upper turret plus the extra internal tankage,it's no wonder the tail section would break off. It was still a very attractive aircraft whether in the bomber or transport role.
