Sorry for the slow reply, clicking "show new posts" lately didn't show me your replies. I try to avoid using photo real areas in my sim. As I fly medium haul mostly, I mostly just don't like the patchy nature of flying in or out of them. I've worked hard to make my 'default' landclass look real, so I don't really need photo real textures. I did have the Chch VFR scenery installed. But (I think) it really is that, VFR scenery, for low level VFR flying. I flew in from Auckland in the 733 and was met by nothing but a big blurred mess. It settled down and loaded...

LOL What Pajero drag racing on NZAA's main runway that would make for an interesting site. Well there was apparently some guy back in the '80s or something who drove onto the runway at Auckland before it was fenced off thinking that it was state highway 1

Sweet shots Monkey! That default Caravan looks just as good as my payware one from feelThere. Impressive ;) I have also noticed that menu bar in lots of screenshots- does it get annoying? Also, are you using any environment addons in that flight, like the RBE mesh and landclass? Hey Trolly. The menu bar is actually quite helpful, it helps me get to the map/kneeboard/watever quicker. Shamefully I don't own the RBE scenery packages, though I may look at it for christmas. And thanks Toprob.

ZK-TZR is a recent arrival and is privately owned with leather interior (toilet?) etc. The guy that founded Alpha Aviation (whom builld Alpha 120s & 160s in Hamilton) owns it. As for the Soundsair crash my friends/flatmates (male/female) were killed in this crash. They were on their honeymoon. Went to their wedding one weekend and their funeral the next which was rather traumatic. Anyway life goes on. Cherrs Naki

That looks cool, I didn't realise Wellington had some real world buildings in the default scenery. :) Yeah its a real surprise, we got some default scenery at Welly and a detailed airport in Auckland, and a chopper repaint of a NZ rescue Jetranger, little old NZ did pretty well this time round, it would be interesting to know what the influence for that was.

It's good, but it can be improved on. What you need to do now is get some anti-aliasing going. The best way to do this is in your graphics card options (NOT IN FS!), e.g. Catalyst control center for ATi cards.

That's one awesome picture there. It sums up simming or aviation in general, you don't need to identify the aircraft to appreciate the freedom that pilot would feel up there amongst the spectacular backdrop of the low sun and the scenery spread out below. Nice

do you have an addon river package? You really need to connect with Christian Stock, Timmo. I run the RBE 20m mesh + topo package, and it produces some really excellent results. I have custom textures which I've fiddled with also, but again it's Christian's NZ landclass that makes it all come alive. It must've been a big decision he made, to go for it - as you point out geospatial data is anything but cheap. But NZ is priviledged to have a real country in the FS world, not many can lay claim to that.

Nope, we own them :) We have many hardcopy photos, some of which I think are owned by NZAM but the latest photos we have had done (of which we recieved both the contact prints and digital Orthorectified images for use in our various GIS systems) were done for us by and australian firm.....Frugo The higher resolution stuff for the urban areas is usually via data-sharing agreement (ie In exhange for the rest of the Whakatane district at 0.8m, we got their high resolution urban area photos...id need to check up on how we share/supply that data but AFAIK i can supply it free provided that you...

Well thats within my criterior for an aircraft, twin engine and props. :D It Looks like he is using a panel and overhead similar to his HS748 which is a terrific plane. If I remember correctly when the RNZAF flew our ones over they had a spot of bother with one, something to do with a valve on the landing gear, but our RNZAF engineers fixed it on the way over.I wonder if any one else remmbers that incident,it was in the paper I think I read it so you would have to be my vintage(63) :)
