Gliders, anyone?

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

There's a wonderful selection of modern [and vintage] European virtual gliders, perfect replicas with handsome functioning panels, to be had for free at www.fsglider.de - with English and German text. They're fine for both Fs9 and FSX, can be 'winch' launched in Fs9 and, of course, aerotowed in FSX. Which even provides thermals. What more could one ask? Note for Charl and anyone else with AI and/or statics in mind: the same website offers a choice of 35 authentic static gliders, including many of those seen at NZ gliding clubs. I make the point because scenery designers, whatever their country, seem to use only one static glider, a representation of the American Schweizer 2-32 two-seater provided as default with Fs9. Which is absurd, because in 30 years of gliding I've never come across one of those aircraft in France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, and the UK, and I very much doubt whether you'd find a real one in Oz or NZ, so a static replica anywhere outside the USA is an anomaly and a blow to realism.

Oh oh, you used the "S" word :o
I have spent many hours unpicking static aircraft from sceneries so I could shoehorn in some decent AI...
We had a little discussionhere some time back, if you haven't downloaded the Coromandel scenery, there may be a treat in store for you.
What's your experience with the FS9 thermals packages available?
