What could have been - FS11 features

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

I stumbled across this quote from an insider. Not sure how trustworthy it really is, but it claims to come from an ex-Aces member and kind of confirms what people in the past have hinted, especially the first person mode that people at ESP were working on. Interesting stuff:

Planned features included voice recognition with air traffic control, first-person mode, a full fledged career mode with a job board and a currency system, a lighter-then-air aircraft class, and skydiving. "We were starting to focus more on the game aspect of it than just the simulation," the ACES insider told us.
Breathtakingly gorgeous FS landscapes for New Zealand.

The same source also said that MSFS as we know it is dead and current plans are an Xbox or arcade version somewhere down the track. So currently I wouldn't bet on a return. However, I agree, FSX + addons should give us plenty to play with. Judging on how popular FS9 + addons is even now, there's a god few years of simming left and who knows what's going to happen then.
