Crew announcements in the 50's?

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Hi all,

I'd be very interested if any of you know, what kind of things was announced by the crew on a DC-6, DC-3 and so on? Was there any kind of safety demonstration?
I just want to put together a new, realistic soundset for FSpassengers that suits my "vintage" wolrd.

thanx

I shall ask my mother. She was a flight attendant on DC3's, Viscounts and F27's.

I seem to recall reading in a few places that on the DC-3 flights the pilots just filled out a report form and it got passed around the cabin for everyone to read. T'was a bit noisy for PA announcements smile.gif

Got a quick bit of info back. They did PA's on all the aircraft bearing in mind that initially there were no flight attendants on DC3's. The PA was a standard format and it was also a requirement to check that each passenger sitting in an exit row was suitable to be seated there.
Just seeing if we can get our hands on a copy of the safety briefings used.

And buffets were served on all flights over 60mins.
