Setting up reverse thrust for turboprops

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby gojozoom » Mon Mar 02, 2009 2:50 pm

Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you -who have an FS aircraft development experience- could explain, how to create reverse thrust for an FS aircraft. I have a constellation and a viscount which (as I know) both have reverese thrust in real life, but the fs version doesn't have it. Is it something to do with the air file? How complex this task would be?

Thanks for the help!

The Constellation had reversable propellers but the Viscount did not smile.gif

I am using FSX but it should work in FS9 as well and it should work for most turboprop planes I managed to get reverse thrust on the Argosy by a simple change in the aircraft.cfg file go to Propeller and alter the following files to read
prop_reverse_available=1
minimum_on_ground_beta= 1
minimum_reverse_beta= -10.000

The minimum_reverse_beta= -10.000 can be altered to whatever you like you might find that -8.000 is better as -10.000 give you a very fast stop good for short airfields but probably -6.000 to -8000 would be more realistic

That sort of entry should work, but as mentioned on the other thread the Argosy never had reverse thrust, the reason it was not added to the model winkyy.gif

Having on the Argosy saves the heavy breaking when landing at the Chathams with a full load tongue.gif

No worries except it was presented on the other thread as a problem with the model which it is not. Being a member of the team I have to defend the fact that it is not a mistake on our part. tongue.gif
