Just Needed To Say "wow"!

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

I've been able to fly around in FSX yet again today, and it really hit me how well we have it now!

VLC covering all of New Zealand in exquisite detail,
Dozens of highly detailed, realistic airports from the likes of RealNZ, Creator2003, Lawrie Roache, and many others,
Disturbingly realistic (ha!) AI traffic reflecting numerous small airlines that can be found around New Zealand, along with GA traffic with accurate liveries, registrations, and locations,
and there's more coming seemingly every day!

Add to this the capability for real world weather through FS itself or a third party program, and you have what is very likely to be the most realistic flying experience that you can have for FS. And it covers an entire country! (and it's not some tiny area like Lichtenstein or something...)

So....reflecting on this, I just wanted to say a big "thanks" to all of the authors of aircraft, liveries, AI, and scenery here....both payware and freeware, that have made all of this possible.

Although I have yet to have the chance to visit New Zealand for real, I bet that if I do sometime a few years in the future, parts of the trip will feel comfortably familiar!

Just completed a quick (well...I was in an A-10...so quicker than normal) trip from Taupo to Paraparaumu, with the appropriate sceneries....and it was simply impressive.
Detailed airport to detailed airport.....over custom terrain enroute.....all while listening to AirNZ Link B1900s and the occasional ATR go about their daily routes, as well as hearing and seeing certain callsigns and aircraft cruise around their real-world localities.

All in all.....this is great!
